Very nice.I envy you guys for the Saar marked badges! Don,there seem to be so many badges designated for the Helferin, would they wear just one at a time?

Robert,I believe it to be early, too.Unfortunately one will never know where these items originally came from.

Nick,
it is a plain case.I have no idea if the case was coming with the pin when issued. That is one of the questions in my book. There seems to be little to no info on minis and cases.

Thanks,Don. I have problems myself finding info on it.Huesken is stating it in one edition as the 3rd version of the Freiluftballonf?hrer badge and in our bible it is the first type, which is a printingerror IMO. There were only about 240 pilots in the early thirties and with the DLV being incorporated in the NSFK a few years later this number shouldn?t have increased much in the mean. Here is another shot of it...

Thanks Eric.I agree,not seen before.
I must correct the named location, while the Stammwerk was and is still located at Wolfsburg the Vorwerk was located at Braunschweig,a city near-by.
If you are able to read German this is an interesting paper on the topic...

If for nobody else then I believe this to be of interest for Mr.Lynn....I enjoyed most of what you posted,so this is a lil return...nothing much, but I have found this paper sheet among others today around my place.Never paid much attention to it,but it actually is an application for an apprentice as lock-smith with the Volkswagenwerk, more precise the Vorwerk, the pre-factory where the young boys were trained for their later position within the VW Stammwerk. Two things make the Vorwerk special, first for the unique way the kids were prepared for their professional life.Boys from all over Germany were coming to Wolfsburg to live at the campus of the Vorwerk.Their days were strictly organised and the results of their final skill test were always among the top ones. The utilized combination of practical and theoretical lectures was invented here and is still being used till today.2nd special thing is that all Vorwerkers belonged to their own HJ Bann.Enjoy the pic.....
