Dear All -
Looking for any information, photos, documents or materials out there concerning Generalleutnant Alois Josef Ritter von Molo and his son, Leutnant Friedrich von Molo (later Oberstleutnant in the Bundeswehr and a leading personage in the Johanniter Order).
As always, any and all help is much appreciated!

Two thoughts: One, it could have been a loaner cap at the photo studio, and two, he could have just joined the unit from an Infantry regiment and had not received his new visor.

All, a looooong bar, but is it legit, or put-together? As always, any help is much appreciated. Any way to ID the original owner if it is legit?

I especially love the private-purchase insignia on EM/NCO 'rocks.

Sorry I am late to this thread, but I agree that it is a lyre that was never finished.

Ah, so dumped into F?hrer Reserve again 15.11.44, sent home, and named commander of "Security Regiment Staff 91" (whatever/wherever THAT was) on 15.1.45.
We still haven't got him as actually alive at war's end, though.
Juan was nice enough to sell Oberst Buchert's tunic back to me last spring. In his file, he finally received the Spange for his 1914 EKII in February 1945. He received that and the KVKII as his only "wartime" awards. Perhaps he redeemed himself in battle to a degree with his regiment, but the trail goes cold after that - I doubt he survived the war, but I hope he did, after wht his harpy of a wife did to him.

Thanks a lot, Chip -
These came in a grouping from the estate of General der Infanterie Erich Clößner, but since he did not even make Major in the Reichswehr until 1929, the boards could not have belonged to him. Perhaps a relative or someone in his wife's family.

Imperial/Weimar is not my area, so any advice as to what these boards are for will be greatly appreciated. All three appear to be for an Oberstleutnant, but of what? They came in a lot with other items that I am more familiar with.
Many Thanks!

An Early Happy New Year to All!
I am trying to piece together the career of Oberstleutnant Karl Steppan, who was commander of the II Battalion Schützen Regiment 12 in the 4th Panzer after the Anschluss, 1938-1939. Prior to the Anschluss, he was in the Austrian Niederösterreichisches Infanterieregiment Kaiser Franz Joseph I. Nr. 1, or at least that is the unit that the 12th was created from after it was absorbed into the Wehrmacht. It appears that he did not serve in the Second World War - he may not have been NS-enough for the regime... Is there any additional information out there on him?
As always, many thanks!

I'd say it is IMPOSSIBLE to determine from a camera. You need to lay these on a scanner and get direct SURFACE imagery.
A signature will show thicker lines where a real pen crossed over itself. A print is uniform. You can see the cross over lines on von Brauchitsch, but when I look at the Hitlers all I see looks like print--
Rick, as always, many thanks. Am I correct that the BZ3bX is the Order of the Zahringen Lion?

Anyone good at determining an original signature from a machined facsimile?

Here's a pic of the Herr Oberst's old-style Reichswehr tunic, tailored when he was a Hauptmann in 1927. It is by far my earliest uniform...

BZ3bX on 02.12.14 as Leutnant in Baden Inf Rgt 114, also WW1 Black Wound Badge.
January 1939 already commander Wehrbezirkskommando Horb a/Neckar as Major (E) 01.03.33 #1
Do you have his other promotion dates already?
Hi Rick -
I have his promotion docs from Major to Oberstleutnant and Oberstleutnant to Oberst (signed by von Brautitsch and Keitel, respectively). I'll post some scans of them here as they are the nice large embossed type - plus, I need some opinions as to whether the AH signatures are original or machined.
Muchas gracias, Ricardo!

Hello, All -
I have just aquired a uniform and document set to Oberst von Sternegg (DOB 14 June 1889). I know his general service record and awards (WWI EKI & II, WW2 KVK I & II). He was the Commander of Wehrbezirks Horn am Neckar until his death (December 1944). I am looking for any information as to his postings and other awards he may have received. I will post pics of the set when I get it mounted. Any help, as always, is much appreciated.

Any advice for trying to blow up a pic without it getting über pixilated, folks? Rick got the B even with my crappy pics - I thought it was an R!

I don't have it in my possession, so I am working with what I have in scans. I tried to blow up the name itself a little - and failed miserably!

Yeah, that's what "hope" gets you these days! I converted the second image to jpg but when I try to enlarge it it gets fuzzy in a hurry.
