And a shot of the reverse...

I've been looking for one of these at an affordable price for a while now. I finally had my opportunity at the SOS. I believe this is an Egana piece as the hardware on the reverse matches my Egana War Cross exactly.
Here's the front...

Does anyone know what this badge is for? My guess is a commerative for an aviation-related anniversary of some sort. It's made of a lightweight metal (probably aluminum), measures approximately 52mm high x 50mm wide, and has a screw-back attachment.
Any information on use and era would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Thanks Pete. That's kind of what I thought too.

I don't know what this is or if it's authentic or fantacy. It's approximately 33mm (55mm with the pin) x 20mm; the flag is soldered to the anchor. Any opinions on purpose or authenticity?
Thanks!

Brianch, Awhile back, I attempte to figure out which SCW campaign medals were from the SCW period, and which were from a later period...

Bottom line: there were so many variants of the medal, I could never make the determination I was looking for.

Antonio, does your CD cover medals in detail from the Spaninsh Civil War period?

This book is being offered for sale, used, for $150 USD. Is this a rare book worth this price?
Opinions welcome

Kinda. Germans wounded could receive the Spanish Wound Medal for Foreigners from the Spanish authorities, as well as the German Wound Badge from their own country.
Gordon, When did members of the LC receive the German wound badges -- at Doberitz when they were presented their Spanish Crosses? I'd love to see a pre-Sep '39 photo of a LC vet wearing a LC/Type 1/New Form wound badge.

Isn't "Condor Legion" - as it relates to wound badges - a misnomer? I thought most Germans wounded in the Spanish Civil War were received the Spanish injury/prisoner medal, and families of those that were killed were presented the Spanish Cross for next of kin.

I saw one priced for $395 at the 2010 SOS Two tables over I bought one for $35.

Perfect originals. During SCW many insignia were handcrafted locally.
The simbol on the red disk is for the Spanish Foreign Legion, where the Italians enlisted as the only way to be in the spanish regular army being foreigner.
I know these wings, were for sale some time ago at Flying Tiger Antiques and dissapeared, I guess were sold. Price tag too much for me.
Regards
Fran
Indeed Francisco -- Flying Tiger is where I saw them just last week. Yes, they were more than I would pay for such an item. I thought they looked a bit crude, but your handcraft explanation would fit here.
Many thanks.

Saw this wing being offered. It's approximately 70mm wide. Any opinions on the authenticity based on these two photos?
Many thanks.

Hi,
I can say as a German, that it was and is not unusual, to apply and to write Corps instead of Korps, both could be correct.
Not for the military organization "Korps" (army corps), but for military related organizations like Offiziercorps and Unteroffiziercorps, and i.e. for shooting and carnival clubs, music groups and other traditional clubs.
Uwe,
Thank you for your reply and examples - very helpful.

I've put a German Luftwaffe Beer Stein up for opinions in the members valuation/discussion area; the stein (if authentic) is likely from the mid-late 1930s (photo below). The design has the following wording around the central motif, "Unteroffizier Corps der hoheren Stabe im Luftkries IV". A couple of experienced collectors advised me the spelling of "Corps" (vs. Korps) should be cause for concern, while a couple of other experienced collectors in another forum told me the spelling of "Corps" (with a "C") is not unheard of for the period.
I'd be interested to hear other opinions on the spelling of Corps vs. Korps in the context of a LW-themed beer stein from the mid-late 1930s.
Thanks!
