Because of the Visor "flattening out" the inside band has buckled , probably from someone trying to bend it perm back into shape ....that's why the cockade looks recessed ...who knows' , maybe because of how it was stored for years ?

I've had this for a while now ..Early pattern Erel TENO NCO Visor ....As I mentioned to Nick , at first I thought the Visor was some sort of Plastic by the way it flattened out and lost it's shape .
In this Pic , I'm holding it in place to give it the "curve"

Nice seeing you here Nick ..it's a great Forum
Give me a minute and I'll start a new thread with a few pictures of that TENO Visor I mentioned to you.
Welcome aboard

If she reads that I'm in trouble you know that right ?
She already told me she was thinking about setting up a Help or Support Group for Wives of Militaria Collectors.
What do think about the 2 bores ..does the Krag look a little smaller to you ?

We're lucky we married understanding Girls ...although , mine said she's drawing the line now that I bought that Anti-Tank Gun this year . She won't let me buy anything that takes up a lot of room now.
I was thinking of bringing it in the Basement for the Winter but , it won't fit

What kind of ammunition did it use?
Hi Chris ...Here's a pic of the Krag bore on the left ...and a 98K on the right. They almost look the same but ..it seems to be a tad smaller than the 8mm. ...could it be an optical illusion ?
BTW ...does your Wife mind having your new MG08 on the Bed at night ??
What a prize !! you were lucky finding and getting it, and being able to fly home without any problems.

these stampings.
thanks!

Thanks Joe ..glad to see I'm not the only one who never heard of a Nazi-Krag. If any members have any info on these , please jump in here.
It's not 8mm ..almost looks like a 6.5 or 7 (small) ..prob the original Dutch Cal.

Here's an interesting one ..a Danish Krag reworked by STEYR dated 1944.
I have not found any in depth info on who these were issued to or how many were reworked.
Not in the best shape, sporterized but ...still glad I found it.
ever see one before ?

All the posted examples I've seen use only a cloth webbing for the chinstrap ...have any of you seen this Leather & Cloth style strap used ?

Brown Sweatband ...posted WW2 examples I've seen are Black , could it be early or post war ?

Just bought this M36 today ..never owned one so I've been trying to compare it to posted examples. The Red Star if faint but there. The sweatband is Brown Leather , not black as most have ...and the Corrugated band is missing ..the rivets are there but they do look re-hammered. The chin strap doesn't match with some posted examples either
Is it common to find these with that corrugated band removed ? I'm hoping it's still in it's orig WW2 config
Open for opinions on this one ..whatcha think ?

I agree ..but it seems that everyone always reffered to them as "Sniper Shields" ...I could never picture a "Sniper" carefully hiding his position and then getting up to take a picture of what a good job he did with the camo

Early TENO NCO Visor

If you put the cap down on the Table ...that Visor flattens right out. Here you can see some curve that's left.
