Actually I thought the pilots badge would create a few comments. I have a picture of the plane around somewhere.
Ah, but do you know with which aviation unit he might have been associated ?? Rick D.

Last one awarded to an Observer.
Mike, you wouldn't happen to know his name by any chance? Thanks, Rick

Rick-- That's the designation here for "Braunschweigisch" for natives, while "Pr" indicates "Preu?isch" and so forth.
It's kind of like Mad Scientist "equation shorthand" or whatever. "Research gnomish."
Thanks, makes sense which is no doubt why I couldn't figure it out R.

Stupid question, what does Bra mean? TIA R.

And even then they didn't include first names Rick

Rick, I have a fairly detailed history of his WW 1 activities, but not WW 2. If Ferg doesn't mind, I can send him scans of the badge for posting.
I'd really appreciate learning his WWI history. Perhaps this would be better handled off-line (so as not to bore everyone). Could you send me a PM, or use my E-Mail:
Duiven@Yahoo.com
Thanks much, Rick

Rick, there is a little info on Strey in O'Connor's series, and I have some documentation on his career, which included two stints with Jasta "B" in 1917 and 1918. There is a fantastic group photo of him with such luminaries as Bernert, Baeumer, Frommherz etc. He was a Hauptmann in 1940 as well.
VtwinVince: Do you have sufficient material to establish an aviation service record for him?
Thanks, Rick

This was filled out, quite vaguely, for the Field Artillery Regiment 23 association some time in the 1920s. But maybe it will help with first name and birth data.

Dave, whoopie! Always glad to obtain the names of German airmen. In this case a special treat, as they were Schlachtflieger! Thanks, Rick

Today I crossed 3,000 combatant ribbons done and 500 noncombatants.
I have found ONE more Offizier-Stellvertreter-- an infantry one this time.
254 pages done, 79 to go. Am at about October 1917 but every month I get forward, they keep retroactively entering clumps of awards from months earlier. I know looking ahead into 1918 there are some there from 1916!
Keep plugging away, it'll be soon be finished (then on to the NEXT one) R.
