Hi Friends,
All of us began to collect with reduced knowledge in the matters (in some cases, as it happened with me, without any knowledge), and for this reason, we ended for doing some crazyness of the which we were sorry bitterly later.
Once I went possessor of a Mauser C96, embroidered, that in agreement with who sold me, it had belonged to the General Beck. Why don't I remember I made the great nonsense of sell her (for US$ 800!!!). I just possess this picture of terrible quality. I know that, few months later she had already been sold 3 times, the last for a German dealer that paid US$ 15,000 approximately. Today she is in some collection in Europe or in USA.
Before her leaving Brazil, it was article of a specialized Brazilian magazine in weapons and, thanks to a friend ( our forum member, Douglas ), I can place better pictures.
Have fun!

Hi Rick,
First answer of a Brazilian friend:
U-199 (Tipo IX-D2) it was built by AG Weser of Bremem and his skull was thrown to the sea in 10.10.1941. He was commissioned in 28.11.1942, receiving as commandant Kptlt. Hans-Werner Kraus.
The career of U-199 was extremely short, just accomplishing a patrol. Between 28.11.1942 and 31.04.1943 he stayed in the 4. Flotille as training ship, becoming used in combat by the 12. Flotille starting from 01.05.1943 when it left for his first mission. It was during that patrol that U-199 sank two cargo ships (4.181 BRT).
On the 31.07.1943 U-199 was sunk to 87 kilometers of Sugar Loaf (RJ) in the position 23.54S, 42.54th for loads of depth of an American aircraft (VP-74) and two Brazilian. The total of drops was of 49 died and 12 survivors rescued by the American destr?ier USS-Barnegat.
The credit of U-199 was given to the Lieutenant Aviator Alberto Martins Torres (1919-2001). When the sinking of the submarine he served the 1st Group of Patrol close to (with which completed 64 combat missions), headquartered unit in the "Calabou?o" ( Santos Dumont Airport at Rio ) then equipped with aircrafts Lockheed Hudson TO-28 and Consolidated Catalina. When Torres sank the enemy embarkation he also threw a boat for the survivors.
More news soon,

Nice but not quite the quality of an imperial order, is it?
You're 100% right, Bob!

Maker mark? What does the "W" mean?
Hi Paul,
I think it's a personal mark( just my opinion), not a maker mark. If you see, it's not stamped, but engraced. Anyway, a great item and a great collection!
Congratulations,
Otto

Hi Paul,
Great job! I'm a motorcycle guy (51 years old, but with a 18 years old heart for motorcycles). Now I only have a Kawasaki Vulcan 750, but in the past I had some great bikes. BMW, Triumph Tiger, Matchles, Indian, HD...but your Indian is amazing (and the Triumph too).
You're a lucky man!
I drink for it (orange juice, only).
