No, I decided to have a low profile on the other forum for some reasons.
Me too, I also have "some reasons". As do many.

Why do they want to compete with Alex Filer database?
Ask them?
At least they do Mongolia!

Ed,
Paul Schmitt, Alexei & I were part of the team Art put together to make the SND. There was a lot of discussion before the database became what you see today.
Doc
Congratulations on your involvement, Doc. While the Mongolian section has problems, it may develop as a useful tool.

"The Other" Soviet forum has opened up what may develop as a rather interesting serial number database. Amazingly, they have included Mongolian awards! While it has some problem (and we may well guess that their entrioes on teh Polar Star will be a hash, you may want to check it out.

As if I would be interested in anything other than ACCURATE information, dear heart! Why do you think I hang out here with you lot?
Now amended to Sukhbaatar Order.
Thankee', Mam'. :forelock tug: You are in the A-#1 place for Things Mongolian. (Not as if most of the world cares?! But We do!)
As with South Asia, more information that You Ever Wished to Have 'tis forthcoming!

Know the feeling, mate. Been giving exams. Gag.
The linked order to the "hero" (t1 & t2) is in English SUKHBAATAR ORDER. Not any super-dumb Herfurth Euro-tranlsliteration.
Just look about on this site, and/or ask me and others for images and wisdom.
(Working with Battushig on the 2nd Edition!)
I/we can provide close to 100% of images and accurate information, if you wish.

And the conjoined award received (from only 1945!) was the "ORDER OF SUKHBAATAR"
Please, no dumb Euro-transliterations!
Work from Battushig's book, or just ask, please.
(A "work in progress", I know, I know, but please don't put bad information "out there"!)

A prayer or two may be said, if only so that when (I have a good hit rate with praying!) you get your claws on the T2 you can do a better reverse picture.
Appreciated that if you do not feel able to present the rear of a T1 that's fine. Anyone else got a reverse view of one?
You want an "edited" scan? To exclude the number?
As this is all super-"tricky", maybe e-mail is best, Megan?? Many issues in play.
Or just go with Bat's image, which is "mine", of the obverse? All praise to the Great Photoshop.

My goodness....
As She said, "Goodness has nothin' to do with it" (the complaints, that is).

'Tain't no pinbacks on these puppies, Megan.
Disallowed to post the reverse on my T1. Sorry.
I can post (and I have) a nasty scan of the reverse on the T2 I have seen that is not mine (yet ......). (And pray for me, to whatever gods you revere.)

Correct.
You want serial number ranges, reverses?
Can tell you more than I am allowed to say
.

Gentlemen,
I think, that we would have to sell or collections for buying such a VOLGA
.
Best regards
Christian
BTW: I prefer my orders & medals
. Just imagine the costs for a brake-service at such a VOLGA
.
For this, I might even sell medals (being in the USA), but Christian's point about brake service is WELL TAKEN - ouch.

Hallo Ed,
I dont think there is a Romanian connection either with the one on the left, the colour of the flag white, green over red to the rear is not the Romanian colours of Blue, Yellow, Red.
OR
The second a sports / athletics badge, again I cant see a connection to Romania, who by the way use Roman Fonts not Krylic style like Bulgaria.
Kevin in Deva.
Transylvania, Romania.
True, but all I know is who sent them to me. Bulgarian maybe??

Good question, though hard to answer as those parts of his goup have yet to come to light.
Many puzzles persist.

Ed,
I'm discovering this thread today only...
This is one of the reasons that make you get interest in Mongolian awards.
But, I still resist the slippery slope...
At least, I try...
Cheers.
Ch.
Let me examine the expert Mongolian seers . . . the shamans say . . . the Slippery Slope will win!
The phaleristic/historical/cultural depth here is amazing!

Normally, I am <politics> not a believer in capital punishment </politics>. But, for this, a SIGNIFICANT exception seems in order as History has been murdered in the misbegotten quest of "profit".
Makes you want to
