    1. In May I'll be in Malta where there is an embroiderer who used to be subcontracted with manufacturing badges, ribbons, caps etc for the brits until the 70s. If you still have not got them by then I can try to help you out so long as you show me exactly what ribbons you will be needing. I know that the guy still has supplies as the Maltese Vets used to get their ribbon replacements until recently.

A pity indeed that these medals are missing their ribbons!

      Jim

(If u can resize your posted pic it would help as its mucking up the margins of the page.... at least on my computer ;) )

Post-1947 Indian ribbons made in Malta? Somehow I doubt it, Jim!

Most Indian medals (pre- or post-1947) come to the market naked.

For the ribbons (not 100%, but 'close') see: http://www.medals.lava.pl/bc/in2.htm

    2. The OMSA ribbon bank used to have stocks of all common post-1947 ribbons (and this would include all of these). I shall be "feeding" their supplies when I am back this summer.

A shame that the Sainya Seva Medal has had its clasp ripped off. Desecration!

    3. 1- Can someone with the Power -- which I don't have -- please move this to South Asia (where it belongs).

      2- Ribbons:

-- Air Force 50th Anniversary Medal / Armed Services Long Service Medal / 50th Independence Anniversary Commemoration Medal

-- North and East Operations Medal / Purna Bhumi Padakkama / Vadamarachchi Operation Medal / Riviresa Campaign Service Medal

3- For Sri Lankan ribbons, see: http://www.medals.lava.pl/bc/lk2.htm

    4. This one always struck me as being too similar to The Polar Star

Agreed, I think the intent was that the pentagonal (vs. hexagonal) shape would make it visually distinctive. Not sure they succeeded.

Interestingly, this is the award being discussed most frequently for termination.

    5. Brendan,

      Many thanks.

Though far FAR outside my collecting field, it takes courage -- personal and financial -- to admit uncertainty over a group such as this and then to struggle with eBay to pull a dubious group. So sad that so few would bother.

These, like so many, too many, items seem to be becoming such a minefield that massive care is required.

Thank you for caring enough to take such care.

    6. I was searching the back pages and found this sleeping in another section of the forum, so I knocked it over into South Asia for you.

Thanks, Chris. Very close to drawing all this (and more) together into a (large) journal article. But for whom, OMRS or OMSA? Difficult to say.

    7. The Singidumum-guy in Belgrade has only a website in Srpski and not in English :( . He seems to be specialized in coins. I couldn't find any orders in his webshop.

But the fact is, that Belgrade has to offer much better prices, than Germany or the USA :D .

No, Christian, the website in Belgrade has nothing. Nothing at all. Nothing. Really. Don't even bother looking. Please. He has nothing at all. Really. Nothing.

      :rolleyes::rolleyes:
