Ed, I hope to be able to help on the dictionary front pretty soon. I just bought the Bawden dictionary and I'll look it up once it gets here. Some time this week I hope.

Looks really nice, but what is a Laval? Has it to do with the Laval Nozzle, invented by Carl Gustav Patrik de Laval?
My guess is that "Laval" has something to do with conch (shell) as a conch is shown and is a central item in (Mongolian and Tibetan) Buddhist ritual. Need a better Mongolian dictionary.

Look in the recent catalogues (all online) of the major UK dealers (Phil Burman, Chris Dixon, Liverpool Medals) and it should be easy enough to turn up a MVO of the right era.
