    1. There is a series of Indian government publications called "Frontier and Overseas Expeditions from India" done at the beginning of the last century. They are regionally based, i.e. all the expeditions against one group of tribes, or one country (Burma). Some of them are available for download www.archive.org. I bought the set in an Indian reprint about 20 years ago.

First part is a description of the area and its people (for the next expedition, no doubt), followed by the details of the expeditions. Quite detailed in most cases (number of men from each unit), casualties (not by name).

I'm at work now, so I can't tell you which volume you need.

Yes, the F&OE volumes are good for tracing regimental activities, though they're totally unindexed.

I, too, am at work, and will check details when I get home. Think you'd want either volume 1 or volume 2 as my failing memory recalls.

    2. Are you going to delhi this summer? If so, could you please have a look for this guy for me please?

Yep, will see what I can find, but there won't be much. Especially since the 5th (later the 5/13th FFR, I think), went to Pakistan, where most of the pre-1947 records have fallen almost totally off the radar. Will need to check, but not sure the 5th was shot at in Samana, probably line of communications troops or some such. Still, a nice gong.

    3. wow - great breast star!!!!!!!!!!!!! :love::love::love:

(if you ask like this - It is cased and, if you wish, I can haul out the camera and snap the case while the goodie is on "home leave". - than i can't say no  )

thanks much and a great work of art!

      Your wish is my command.

    4. Since I happen to have these medals here on "home leave", I thought I'd do a close-up of the Masonic medal of Khan Bahadur Nasarvanji Navraoji Sadri, Inspector-General of Police, Kolhapur State.

His full group has been posted, though apparently forgotten and undiscussed, in http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=2324 -- maybe too exotic??

The lightly guilded silver medal is suspended from a faced (and fraying) blue ribbon from what I think of as the usual Masonic stick-pin. The obverse "LODGE ROYAL JUBILEE No 742 S.C." and named on the reverse "To Wor. Bro. Khan Saheb N. N. Sadry / Secretary 1932-33". It was made, and is marked by, the famous Bangalore jeweler Barton.

      FYI.

    5. great breast star!

can we see a picture of the reverse (would be interesting if they "prefer" needle or srewback attachement - and how they made the reverse)

      wonderfull example

      christian

Having brought back the Order of the Vikram Star, Grand Commander star, let me re-scan the obverse and the reverse as well. It is cased and, if you wish, I can haul out the camera and snap the case while the goodie is on "home leave".

As it is heavily valuted it does not scan so well.
