The puzzle of numbers, dates, types and how they intermingle. The overlapping of numbers between types seems (to me and to others on this forum) to be extensive. Did they start over with each new type?
As we have discussed on other threads, the Polar Star seems especially complex and elusive. Maybe you know better. Please say you do.

Another one, often overlooked, the Medal "Friendship". This #11219".

PS- the Order of Stalin:

While I'd agree (and vote the puzzle "solved"), I think you can argue another link between the Order of Stalin and the Order of Service to the Motherland. We may never know until someone gets into the records. Not the boring numeric key records, but the interesting policy records.

Sorry for the clumsy "Superman" reference, which may not export. But anyone who can disentangle the puzzle of the Polar Star will be truly a Super Man (Person).

Nice. While scanners don't like long screwposts, they do usually produce high-quality images much easier. Though the depth-of-field issue becomes a problem for some things.

Nice. Thanks. The more we fill out the story here, the more good we do for advancing our collective knowledge!

But, presumably, a document to a Soviet, not to a Mongolian?

Thanks for these, and nice scans too!

Interesting, my 2nd class has a Moscow artists coop one (see above), but I guess any of these could be replacements?

Nice, thanks.
What are the screwplates on these various badges? Are there patterns. (Assuming, of course, that no one has played mix-and-match with the screwplates?!)

So . . . where is that roll of Order of Victory ribbon that Monty's favourite military tailor used to "doll-up" the FM's uniforms?? Must be some leftovers, lying unknown and unloved in some bottom drawer somewhere?

Yes, many thanks! It is always great to have another record-making datapoint.

Thanks to the noble moderator for conjoining the two threads. Sorry for starting a discussion in a parallel universe.

A really interesting badge, and one about which we need to know much more. It screams "early".
Here's what I have:
First class ? Type 1.1 (all gilt) - Low = ??, High = ??
First class ? Type 1.2 (hammer only gilt, cog-wheel silver) (B# A 61.1) - Low = ??, High = 4665
Second class (silver) (B# A 61.2) - Low = 1964, High = 4631
Third class (bronze) (B# A 61.3) - Low = 303, High = ??
Correct and expand, please.
The only one I have so far is a second class (#1964), shown with its screw-nut from those friendly northern artists.

This has been discussed at some length over on the OMSA forum, at
http://www.omsa.org/forums/showthread.php?t=650
but the US Air Force has decided to "delete" the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. The reasoning (ha!) is obscure and no one yet knows whether the disease will spread to the other services. Why have a medal just for enlisted personnel when you can have 15 or 20 meaningless ribbons for all?!
FYI and comment.

Thanks Ed.
Will post later each of the Polar Star (wow! that makes 14 pics and I'll have to make scans of a few of them) and the Mother Heroine (wow! 16 pics! + 2 of one not in the Display! these I have scans of all but I'll need the time ) right now it's time for dinner

Yeah and, after that, you can sort out the types and chronology of the Polar Star! And then you can leap tall buildings at a single bound?

Very inspiring, impressive, and lovely.
Should put up a general shot of mine too.

Have I just become too much of a skeptic, or am I right in looking at this and saying "Sure, . . . !!"?

Lovely, thanks for sharing!

You have us holding our breath for "the rest of the story".
Lovely lovely.

Oh, it only looks that way because it is a duplicate issue. See the number!
When will they [the sheep] ever learn . . . .

Oh . . . nice. Thanks. More . . . ??

I, too, am unaware of things unknown, but hear reports.
In any case, I think you have suggested a logical chronology, Rick. Until someone extracts the files of contracts from the archives in Ulanbaatar (and figures out how to read the bleedin' things) we may never know for sure. One things to be said for governments -- all governments -- they will keep records of how they spend their (our) treasure.
I really like learning new things . . .

Well . . .
. . . there was the "badge" (more or less) at the time . . .
. . . and then the "medal" later on.
A first phase and second phase of issues, but to whom? Battushig implies, but does not detail, the badge/medal threshold. When/why/how did the the Friendly Northerners get their as opposed to Mongolian nationals?
