here's an item that i have always considered to be a reproduction. i will explain why i am posting it after i submit some images
this example consists of a piece of (cast?) silver. details show a lot of wear, and it was cleaned/polished a long time ago-- as evidenced by minute polish abrasions. a tarnish is slowy returning.

i suspect this dimple is a result of the vaulting process performed at the factory

you are correct-- however, it's the smaller size for youths.... 37.5 mm tall, 53.5 mm wide

here's an interesting variant. notice the stippling behind the helmet. perfectly even and in a circular design. planchet is of tombac.

you would do a lot better than refer to members posts as "ignorant".
Kevin in Deva.
perhaps it would be prudent to look up the definition of the word and not be so eager to castigate newcomers to our forum. especially those whose first language isn't english.

nice!
very difficult to find.
my all-time favourite type is the variant with the k.m.s.t. clasp. still haven't been able to acquire one.

do my eyes deceive me or does that gorget have a large gem affixed to it's center?

perhaps the pin has been replaced at some point. barrel hinge/pin don't seem to have the tightest of fits...kind of loose, actually.

this appears to be an early piece of patriotic or "sweetheart" jewelry. very nice design--enough so that the manufacturers actually deigned to patent it.

...either that is a very nice prinzen-sized ek2, or the gentleman in question was a pituary giant. nice photo!
