overview of reverse

detail of obverse. btw, eagle and wreath are silver; donut rivets are tombak and hooks are brass as you will see. swaz looks to have been re attached at some point

got this many years ago from an antique dealer in new zealand that specialized in antique silver. price was right and item was certified as being silver

could have been anything. a difficult landing or a bad automobile accident? who knows! also, the wreath is pretty warped. in any case it's certain that the guy survived an event that damaged his awards. probably pretty lucky

here is an unmarked one that i have always been a bit leery of...the magnetic core has this wierd matte finish. any ideas?

regarding the bavarian cross: markings are also found on the center disc. here are two examples-one is marked on at 11 o'clock and the other at 1 o'clock

not sure, chris. but i took them to a local show about 6 years ago and a guy that collects this type of thing took a big sniff at them and then starting hollering across the room at his buddies. causing quite a fuss. he wanted to buy them from me right away. if i remember correctly he said they are a type that was only used for a brief period.
hopefully someone can further elaborate?
in any case, not my area of interest..just something i've had since i was a teenager
