    1. I'd like to share with you this set of original pencil drawings executed by an unknown British soldier who had some skills at sketching his comrades. As you can see uniform details were his strong point unlike faces These drawings were made in Palestine in 1917, artist's initials are probably "J.E.J." Drawing No.1.
    2. Thanks for your reply, Andreas! I'm glad I own a piece of this history, though not really exclusive one
    3. Andreas, I just came across an interesting link about "Elfriede" here: http://pages14-18.mesdiscussions.net/pages1418/Pages-d-Histoire-Artillerie/Artillerie-Speciale-chars-d-assaut/elfriede-recupere-bretonneux-sujet_463_1.htm A lot of useful and interesting info!!! The only aspect that is not covered there is tank's fate after it was displayed at Place de la Concorde. There's an opinion expressed by one of the members that after being held at the courtyard of Palace d'Invalides "Elfriede" was destroyed according to the order of the Paris military governor. Is it true? If so when it happened?
    4. Thanks for the identification, Andreas!
    5. Second photo. Close-up of captured German A7V.
    6. Here are two photos from the latest addition to my collection. Dedication on the back: "German artillery and tanks at Place de Concorde, Paris, France. taken July 8th, 1919".
    7. Thanks for the info, Thomas!
    8. Kevin, thanks for your comment! Unfortunately I don't have any information regarding similar tank model produced by Americans. The ones that I know look different. Maybe someone could help with that?
    9. Many thanks, Prussian! Will proceed with more CDVs soon in separate topics!
    10. Dedication on the back reads: "Group of Red Navy sailors from the U-Boat "Sch-311" with its commander Vershinin, Hero of the Soviet Union. 1940" Vershinin Fedor Grigoryevich (23.04.1905 - 29.02.1976), captain (naval), "captain 1st rank" in Russian. He was a commander of the "Sch-311" U-Boat from February 1938 (commander-in-chief from April 1937). Lieutenant commander Vershinin was awarded "The Hero of the Soviet Union" on February 07, 1940 for his bravery during the Soviet-Finnish war. Retired in December 1964, last position - senior staff scientist at the Military Naval Academy (June 1960-December 1964).
    11. Many thanks for the clarification! I have couple of questions regarding several other CDVs (large majority of my collection is already identified only several portraits are still not). Could I ask you here?
    12. Is it possible to have a look at photos of the above-mentioned ambassadors to complete identification of the diplomat?
    13. Could you please help me with one detail of this hand-colorized CDV of a soldier from 1.Lothringisches Infanterie-Regiment Nr.130. According to several sources shoulder boards of enlisted men from IR 130 were yellow with red numerals. But here its vice versa. It could be due to two reasons: 1) Mistake of the photo atelier personnel (I doubt it as having examined dozens of hand-colorized portraits I never found any mistake done). 2) Before 1902 IR 130 had red shoulder boards with yellow numerals. The situation changed in 1902 after that regiment was renamed. Your comments, please!
    14. Could you please post more details about that person?
    15. I assume it could be Serbian Commemorative medal of accession of King Peter I Karageorgevic (1903).
    16. Many thanks for your quick response! Any ideas on the personality of this diplomat?
    17. Forgot to add that portrait was made in 1938 in Romania.
    18. Close-up # 2. Breast star of the Ordinul Coroana Romaniei.
    19. Here's a first close-up of the medal bar from the previous photo.
