    1. Here is the Merit cross , medal 4th class or distinguished service how they call it also.

Now there are 2 versions, this is the WW I version, the other one is with a clasp with "1940" on it.

For the History, there were a regiment from Greece in Egypt during WW 2 that participate in El Alalamein and other actions, offering also Pilots for RAF.

The same regiment participate when Allie forces attack Italy to liberate from German forces there.

For this regiment ,there are 2 versions of medals, issued by Hellenic state.

    2. Yes,I thought about too, indeed is the reverse of the medal.

Must be an explanation though, hard I imagine an Officer not to know the obverse of a medal.

He might fancy the sign of the reverse "ZA VERNOST OTADJBINI 1915" which we can translate as "For (soldiers) faith to the fatherland 1915"

Another explanation is to dislike King Alexandar and he prefer King Peter I better :speechless1:

(As we see,the other medal is with the obverse side )

There is no medal damage as the photo came with these 2 medals.

      Indeed an interesting photo,I agree...

    3. Greetings to all,

I assume that we are dealing with the cheaper Silver version that has been Gold plated afterwards.

One is sure,it has a gold plate intervetion as it is clear from the photos.

Milan you might know that was a Silver version but I do not posses photos to put up this moment.

Nice that you pointed this sale, let's see what "feed" this buyer will send back
