The swords device for the "Volkspflege"-medal is quite rare, isn't it?0

Just in case somebody needs a picture of the reverse of no.: 90 in Thies's upcoming auction, here it is:

Hi Andreas,
Obvious, but still worth mention - this pin system also aided in the proper alignment of the center medallions. Also, are you aware of this ?pin system? having been used on stars; or was that negated by the screw off back plates?
Wild Card
Absolutely. We are looking at quite a chnage of craftmanship over one century.
The early Prussian stars made predominantly by Hossauer use the same pin system. Later pieces (already Humbert & Sohn, Hanff & Zimmermann) are taking advantage of the very smart screw back system. Yes, sometimes the medaillion still moves, but on an economical level it was still the best way to make those stars.

As I mentioned, the wire can be found on almost all order decorations. Older pieces like the one Red pictures does not neccessary have that. the jewelers learn those days......
The wire goes through the cross as well as through both parts of the medaillion:

This is to hold the center in place. allmost all order decorations have that. Using just the normal resin could have been fine, but still carried the risk of heating up in and making the resin soft. This could cause the center medaillion to turn of fall out. the wire prevented that from happening.0

Good stuff! I don't think many people did have a chance to see inside a cross and realize that they are all hollow.0

...well and this one:

...2nd class with swords:
[attachmentid=30675]I believe this bar belongs to one of those officers from the Jaeger Regiment 9 in Ratzeburg.

This one is quite rare, too:

Here' one I had at one time. I think it was fairly rare. I ended up selling it back to the dealer I got it from because I think it was real, but faked. The swords didn't seem correct. They were'nt screwed in.
Perhaps I was wrong.
Dan Cole
I would try to give it back....

...and my personal favorite. The Kleinkreuz with swords officially made by Rothe in Vienna, 1863/64 commemorative cross, NCO long service decoration for 10 years, 1848/49 commemorative cross:

I wonder if you still remember the dealer's name and the price of the medal bar. I remember that it was in pristine conditions.
Ciao,
Claudio
It is still availiable...

Looking at this auction and those few German orders for some days know I would like to make everybody interested in this aware of the following details:
a) Prussian Red Eagle Order-3rd Class w/Crown & Swords.
This piece was definetly a regular Red Eagle Order with Crown. Somebody attached the swords after the fact. There is a nice detailed picture of the one swords whowing the glue that holds it in place. This picture shows also the former mounting of the center medaillion into the cross.
b) Prussian Order of the Royal Hohenzollern Houseorder with Swords
Please be aware that there were only 16 pieces awarded. The piece in the auction does not have real Wagner made swords. It looks to me that they are not coined. This can be seen when looking closely at the hilts of the swords.

...he was the lucky one. I am telling you, big show, but nothing good imperial to buy. At least no enamel.0
