Are there any markings? Could we see the side of the swords?0

Very nice topic. Lots of fun until one reaches the real rare ones. You definetly don't want to miss the next Thies auctions in order to fill the real gaps.0

Why the long mystery and lack of consensus? Rick you said LONG ago NO attributed piece had come forth with crown/moon. Surely others must have noticed that.
Are these modern pieces from the 60's or Weimar souvenirs and 'replacements'?
Several were made in Wuppertal, Germany, for decades until about 10 years ago. Nice electroplated/formed fakes.

No, don't have one either. It would be especially nice to own one from Strelitz on a medal bar. I hope Santa Claus is reading my wish list correctly this year.0

I didn't know that, but it makes sense. Certainly my guy was Prussian.
Superb bar, anyway!
Yes, it is unfortunately true. It seems that most modern publications are a summary of secondary sources. So the result is that there is nothing ever new and all mistakes surface ones more. A shame!!!
Yet, at least the quality of the pictures is getting better.

Hi Andreas,
Is your star to a grand cross or commander? Either way, a superb piece indeed.
Best wishes,
Wild Card
It is to the commander. The star is made by Quellhorst (Hausinger successor in 1850), who stoped producing by 1880. A really fine example of on of the earlier stars.

Anybody wants to guess who the bearer of all those goodies is? I also have the documents....0
-
Of course I don't have a picture of the one handy with the knight first with crown, but here is a picture of the other one in my collection:0
-
Daniel, have you got a pic of that other Brabant ribbon bar?
Andreas, has your Knight's 1st with crown bar been ID'd? Has to be one of the other three mentioned by Nimmergut!
No, it has not, yet I bought it from the family who could not recall the actual recipient. Amazing how some people treat their family heritage (...well, good for us collectors).
I try to dig out a picture of it to post.
Let me also mention that those numbers in Nimmergut's "book" are not correct. I believe that those are only the Hessian recipients. The person that actually did the research in the first place had only the source for the Hessians availiable.

What makes you think it is a first class?
They looked different in color to me, but...it always helps to see the real thing. Yet, the 1st class was awarded only very scaresly....normally found with some more orders and medals...anyway

Very interesting, is it hollow?0

Could the second commander badge be a Bavarian MVO?

I think the first piece (Claudio's) would prove to be by Godet, whereas Andreas' & Brian's are Wagner.........
The piece that started this post seems to be made by Neuhaus in my opinion...but again, I wuold need to see it life.

All right then, here is the real one, made by Wagner. Red Eagle Order 3rd class with crown and swords. Crown GOLD, Cross GOLD and Swords GOLD.0
-
That is some amazing quality if the cross itself is not real.
I don't think anybody disputes the originality of the cross; it is more the about the attachements.

here is the back. Yes, I thought it is one of those bars that will just be nice without the name.0
-
Well, with all but one awarded in golden times (before 1914)....yes, of course.0
-
OK, so how about this one?!0
-
indeed:
3. Baden: Order of the Z?hringen Lion, Knight 2nd Class with Oakleaves and Swords
4. Reuss: Princely Reuss Honor Cross, 2nd Class with Swords in GOLD

What makes you think it is a first class?0

I recently acquired this medal bar, but am not sure if it is possible to identify the bearer?!0
-
This is the original case of issue for this rare medal:0
-
Thank you very much. That is very kind.0
