Certainly not an officially made piece. But certainly very nicely made. I assume some kind of contemporary replacement piece

It could also be a Red Eagle Order with smooth arms and swords. Keep in mind that swords or swords on ring did not exist from 1888 to 1889.0

Has anybody seen this brooch before? Has a marking "HAUG" on its reverse and is 3 cm tall.

Sold for 915 Euro.
Nimmergut (OEK) price for a 1st class PCO 2nd modell without X and without X on the ring 1800 Euro
Gee wiz, one can't trust even the Nimmergut catalogue anymore

Apparently there WAS a roll of these. In working through George Seymour's award rolls that I have inherited, he made notations of this Anhalt award with an award year, on other rolls. Whatever his Anhalt source was did NOT survive to get to me though. :(t
There was actually a little booklet published in 1994 giving a very good summary on this Arts and Science medal. It also lists all recipients:

He would certainly have qualified to be a non-combatant0

No match of awards to that name by either spelling 1902-1914. Must have been his OTHER Opa!!!!
I need to ask them again....

I do remember this one very well. Oak leaf is certainly a good old one, made before 1916 or on special request.0

...here an oak leaf found on a Godet/Schickle PlM with Oak Leaf from the 1930/40th:

Reading through the thread inspired me to update my web page and show a sequence of oak leafs from 1820th to the last official Silver gilt version (1916-1918):

@ pluribus,
your KK-Star looks very good to me. This is an early Typ and is very close to one of my Stars.
Looks to me that Griffin is not seperatly attached? Is that right?

Whooo, this thing follows the rule: "Hot potato, hot potato"
I was actually invted to examine it life some month back, but left it where it came from.
Amazing, this thing traveled all over the US and now to Canada.

Lets see who will come up with the correct answer.

But this is a commander, not a grand cross.0

The crown order that started this thread has those typical swords used by the firm of Godet.
Excuse my slip up. I meant to type: Zimmermann
