That worn order of glory is great. I really like it!
A bit off topic but I can't resist.
This is what he would have looked like if he had been a cook.
Great research!

Epppppppppppssssssssssssssson scanner.
These came out fine!
Karl Petrivich SPROGIS, Red Army Private, was indeed authorized a Valor Medal by decree of the Western Front on 20 January 1942, but received VM # 3,100,206 out of the box (maybe he was a POW? Reeeeeseaaaarch....) by Riga City Military Commissariat 12 December 1945!
From his name, he must have been a local Latvian.
Thank You very much! I'm actually thinking about researching it but I have a few more waiting and I have not made up my mind yet. But before that, I'm still waiting for my OG research to come in the mail. It appeared that there had been some misunderstanding but I'm hoping it will come this or next week. I'll post it when I get it.

Erik,
I really like the Temporary certificate and medal!! As for your scanner I scan everything including black & white photos using the Color photo setting. It works every time.
Doc
Thank You! Yes, who needs to use the black and white settings anyway. It will probably work if i bother to download new drivers.

It was time to try our new hp scanner so I decided to scan this bravery medal with temporary award document. It appears that it crashes when I don?t make a scan in colour?. If it can scan colour why not black and white!... Anyway? I think his name is Sirogis Karl Petrovich the rest I can't read. Was it given 12 December 1945 for something he did in 1942? Or have I got everything vrong?
I think I will use my digital camera in the future.

That Kite looks really familiar... Hope I have better luck with the next one.
It is really nice, can't get much better!

Erik,
yes they did !! They started to fake campaign medals short after the wall broke down. At first the
rarer campaign medals (Belgrad, Sewastopal...) and the WW II excellent awards (best submariner,
torpedo specialist...) I bought the first fakes around 1992/93.
regards
Andreas
Thank You for the information about that.
I guess the fakes were not very good back then. Or could they be mistaken for originals? Some of the recent fakes are quite scary.

I can't see anything wrong with them. I agree the Vienna medal looks a bit weird but it is probably ok, just very worn.
Did they even fake campaign medals 10 years ago?

It says third place, category, class? I am not sure what the exact translation of раЗряд would be here.

Hi!
Does anyone know if the conflict centering on the Damanskij island in the Ussuri river between China and the Soviet union continued into 1970? Could the order have been awarded as part of the fighting here?

very nice! these medals are great because they were only awarded for combat!!! very nice one to!!
They were? I thought it was awarded for distinguished military service in general, not only combat?

By the way... Are the boxes made of wood or plastic?
I remembered this old thread You might not have seen. My favourit. A 4th class which looks like it could be from around 1910.

Thanks Eric I see your writing is different. So would this be from between 1945 and 1947?
Would that apply for the 6th class also, or were rivets not used on that grade?
Rivets were used on 6th class orders and above. I believe they stoped using rivets sometime after the war (that is what I have heard). Sacred treasures are still awarded in Japan so Your order are probably made betwen 1945-2006. I can't be more acurate than that, sorry. So much still to learn about them.
I am actually only collecting the early ones.
The writing shanged sometime in the thirties to the style on Your 5th cl.
Hope it helps

and the box. I think this order are made sometime around 1920. (I'm guessing here).

Case front I forgot to include it. I would like some opinions on this one if possible, the reverse seems to be as new as yesterday! Thats all for now here, thanks for looking
Hi!
I think this order is perfectly fine. But it looks like a post war wariation. (no rivets on the reverse of the order). I don't think I have ever seen any fake 5th cl Sacred treasures.
/Erik
here is my one
Edit: wrote 6th instead of 5th...

Isn't the bravery medal entry in the booklet missing a "0"?
A stunning group I have to agree, but without campaign medals I'm not interested.

The enamel work on these and the other Japanese medals sure is sweet.
shhh! We do not want any more competition.
Great collection. I really like the design of the sacred treasure orders.

I forgot to say that it is unmarked.
Here is another one from my collection that is marked. Made of what looks to be silver. I will only post a picture of the mark since the rest of the medal looks like any other red cross medal.
