Mark,
I think there were only two distinctions with this insignia. A single "horseshoe" for the Fahnenschmied (Unteroffizier) and a double horseshoe for Oberfahnenschmied (Sergeant). The horseshoes were formed from NCO lace in the same color as the tunic buttons, ie, silver or gilt. During the war the lace was changed to the subdued NCO lace on the M15 Bluse.

Chip Thanks for the help mark

From Fahr Komp./ Bayer. Reichsheer Sanitäts Abteilung 7.
Ex Bavarian Fußart Rgt 1 Oberleutnant (KB Lt 07.01.13, Oberlt 06.04.16/RH seniority 22.03.18) Wilhelm KLEYLA was born in 1894.
He had the BMV4X with Crown, EK1 and 2, and 1918 Wound Badge. The naughty man is obviously IMPROPERLY wearing ribbons for his BMV4XmKr as well as the superceded BMV4X , and 2 vanity veterans awards at the end of his ribbon bar.
Hauptmann 01.06.26. I lose him after 1928.
Thanks Rick I would never of got the medal bar Mark.

Hi sef!
The left one wears black cuffs with white Litzen, so it could be a member of the "Garde-Pioniere", or one of the "Verkehrs-Truppen" (traffic)
The 2nd one wears the MG-Scharfschützen-Abzeichen and a 12 on the shoulder straps. So he should be in the "MG-Scharfschützen-Abteilung 12"
The former name was "Scharfschützen-Abteilung 2 of Armee-Abteilung Strantz". It consists of MG.Scharfschützen-Trupps 59,117, and 153. Formed 1.oct.1916 (Garde-Ersatz-Division)
Tnanks for the help Andy very useful Mark

Dreadfully blurred and overexposed-- hopeless. Iron Cross 1914, Bavarian Military Merit Cross 22nd Class X with Crown, Hindeburg Cross X, ? Austrian WW1 Commemorative, ?, ?-- probably one of those is a Hungarian WW1 Commemorative-- no sign of any long service medal, Imperial or Wehrmacht so not a career guy.
A former Bavarian NCO as some sort of Wehrmacht official-- probably a paymaster to judge by the white (?) borders to his cuff and collar patches.
What would be really interesting with a decent quality photo is that he appears to be wearing-- quite improperly -- the 1920s very unofficial Prince Alfons brooch
just above his belt.
Thanks Rick never would have got the brooch thanks Mark

Helo I have this militarpass to Oskar Hauser born 1872 pre war 1 Feld-Art Reg 9 batterie Training:Operation for the Field art, Gun pointer and with the Reichs revolver M83. 3/9/14-15/9/15 with
L.Mun.Kol 2 Abt Res-Feld-Art-Reg Nr53. then as shown on page 12 and 13.The entry for 6/12/15 says something about an Iron Foundry, then the entry on 23/2/17 is the same factory mentioned on inside of the pass.Unfortunatley for me I translate these with a German English Dicionary and struggle with some words and writing.
