The reverse is definitely the 1958 United Arab Republic medal, however the obverse should be a map of the Middle East - can you advise if the obverse on you piece is cast as part of the medal or is a separate piece which has been affixed to the medal.

Yes looked like something was fastened before and badly removed ... (looks like boxing glove).
Found in Internet that this type of jetons (bronze as well) was existing from 189..... till 1907

I might add that it is most probably Syrian Barth party branch edition: due to the place it was found and due to the style which is slightly similar to some of Syrian coins design.
What do you think about the period/date it was made....
