Hello guys, i'm not much into french medals...but this one got my attention. What was it for? Period? Is it original? What is the value? Thanks for any info in advance!

I believe these are often faked by using the 2nd class with application of new gold plating which is then aged a little bit. That's why I pointed out the vanishing gold on the sword handles. On the other hand I can't imagine how to fake the center medailon since the letter 'L', the ornament and the belt on the 2nd class are in silver covered by enamel. How on earth can someone change it to gold? :unsure: -

Hi fellas, what do you think of this one? There are some 'things' I don't like about it e.g. poor quality of avers center or 'worn-out' gold plating but i'm sure there are more experienced experts here than myself... Thanks for feedback in advance.
