    1. Hi Timo.

I agree with you. Photo is rather good.

One extra argument. Look. The girl had an earring. It was impossible.

The females joined army during WWI were not to wear such things with uniform.

    2. Here is one of my best and one of the rarest imperial Russian era photo what I have in my humble collection:

...Person on the picture is women! Because there weren't many females officers in the imperial Russian army, it shows that she must be some noble origin.

Like I had been advised, there was only 25 female graduated in the Vladimir Military School. 21 of them got killed in the Russian Civil War (19171923). Of course beeing on the "white" side.

IMHO it is a sort of masquerade. Look. The uniform isn't the right size for the girl. May be it is her brother uniform. I have saw a few same photos.

    3. This is a badge of The Imperial Russian Fireman Association (Императорское российское пожарное общество) Cyrillic letters ИРПО is abbriviatura of The Association. Мonogram ВА stands for Grand duke Vladimir Alexandrovich (The honorable chief of the Association). The Imperial Russian Fireman Association was formed in 1892. Grand duke Vladimir Alexandrovich was died in 1909.

    4. Hello Linas.

      I'm very susprised.

      Your first message.

I have what appears to be an Imperial Russian-made Polish Order of the White Eagle Breast Star. Based on the photos alone, the leading expert on Polish-related medals believe it is genuine and valued between $10-$20,000 - but he will not do a formal appraisal because he is in the US and I am in France, and he does not want to take the risk of this Star getting lost in the postal .

      Your last message.

Keep in mind, MY expert, with over 60 years of experience and respected around the world as the #1 expert on Polish militaria believes MY Breast Star is a Polish 18th Century, pre-1795 version. He NEVER thought it was Russian.

IMHO Your expert changes his mind rapidly.

I never said "I am a expert in Polish decoration".

But look at picture of White Eagle Breast Star XVIII Centure ze zbiorów Biblioteki Narodowej w Warszawie.

    5. Hi Claudius,

I had no further imput as you can see.

Pavel kindly told me that this document don't show if this Order is with or Without swords.

Although I also think that an Admiral should receive an award with swords, My personal opinion is that if not mentioned is should be a NO swords award. This is based on my observing of many awards made to british military personell that received the version without swords. I think, but I'm not sure, that the award of an Order with or Without swords depend on the fact if the particular situation that generated that award is for war (or something of similar ???) or not.

      Regards

      Lilo

P.S. As you I also wait for the answer by more unknwoledged people.

      Sure without.

The swords to Orders (Vladimir,Anna,Stanislav) were given only to participentes of battle and it could be written directly in document.

      Best regards.

    6. Thanks Paul.

Would you have any idea why these men could have been in the UK? It's noted on the reverse in modern handwriting that they were in Lewisham military hospital but I don't know how true this may be.

      Tony

The left one is a NCO (unter-officer). The second one is a private. Could you zoom the shoulderstrap of NCO to get more information.

    7. Hi George,

Many thanks... that's just what I needed. This is now my first original (or copy even) of anything Imperial Russian!!!! :jumping::jumping:

      Deeply appreciate the help!
