    1. Hello Gents..I had in 1956 a Steelhelmet what was maybe an early 1951 Model   German Police or Boarderguard  BGS Helmet

looked unused..never seen again! with a Textile  strap Liner  (US Style ? ) adjustable at the Back inside  & Bails  for the Chinstrap on the Shell welded

Vents & old Style Rivets Color light green "rough Paint." since I have it no more (was sadly stolen)   maybe "rare" today? they were soon replaced by a Vent- & rivetless Shell..better Leather liner  similar to WW2  in ~ 1953? I showed this Helmet 1962 to a former BGS Soldier who served then with me in the BW (He had not seen this Model before (what could be possible  since this Type would be soon replaced... maybe the German Barack Police (Bereitschafts Polizei) had them as well? I try

to indentife here  with help of some "similar looking Pictures" any Help very apprexiated! Best Regards Jurgen

    2. Hi Uwe its the second left!

here some Veterans wore this  Shield who obviously bought them after the War posing in their "Denazifiziert" Uniforms !

That anybody like "Collectors" can buy them to this day is

also well known....nothing new my Friend! ..lots on "ebay".some clearly "Over prized" just one Seller offered me one (I got cheap!) for £69 !..I polite declined!

..but since now over 70 Years old something worth?  : Thanks for Your interest!

    3. Hallo Uwe

I not saying thats an "Original" I know them were  very primitive made in the POW Camps by the Soldiers. the 1957 wasn made "Official" ..and not aczepted as such.

I seen more what looked like mine as Steinhauer & Lueck them and Souval in Vienna made them..

so again:" I guess" them were made vor the Veterans..who wanted a "better made Shield"?

and here Y' can see a Katalog were this Version appears! Beste Gruesse Juergen

    4. Hello Thanks v.Perlet

Yep as it happend I weighed both old 1870  50 mm Prussian Koppel with Buckle & the IIWW 45 mm broad Koppel with Steelbuckle - the Difference was only 30 gramm! not much less Weight the?

in my BW Time (4 Years Volonteer) we wore the new 1963 Leather Belt  also for Guard Dury to the Service Uniform. I found it not unconfortable to wear with the Pistol..We were allowed to wear Private purchased Leather Belts with the "All Day" Work Uniform.

Indeed most II WK Koppel found are very short lucky You found one over 100cm lenght! ..that maybe due that the Soldiers were very Young..or undernutured?

      Best Regards Juergen

    5. Hi Gents!

Here I show The Steel version (Wartime) and the Post war Aluminium Buckle

I hear used now in the Finnish Army? (Mine is from Parade belt 1960.)

but fit on my German leather belt..I believe better with Aluminium Hook, since

the Material Steel & Alu dont like each other ?

sadly "Finnish shop "Verusteleka" not sell the Steel Buckle anymore their is

the "HikI Shop" in China but not so good Replica?

Any Interest very appreciated! Thanks & Regards Jurgen

    6. Thanks for the INFO My Friends!

My Question was more WHY the actual Leather  50mm Koppel Belts were reduced to 45mm?  (NOT The Buckles)..Some say it was to save some gramms on weighting Equipment..cannot believe that! about 30 gramms! I weighed!..  OK here some Bakelite Buckles rare Volkssturm?.Thanks & Regards Jurgen

    7. Hi  Gents: I weighed two  German Belts 50mm (2") ~ 30 gram

                                                                       45mm        ~ 27 gram

I cannot imagine that  ~ 3- 4 Gram makes a weight Difference for the Wearer?

after WW  2 the Bundeswehr brought back 50 mm Belts? even with heavier Brassbuckle? (Koppel) even left the

Tonge & Tab later in 2WW ! (To safe Leather? Any INFO very apreciated Yours

      Jurgen

PS : I joined the Bundeswehr in  January 1962 as Zeit soldat

we were allowed to use private Leatherbelts as "Unterfuehrer" NCOS, since the forst  Issue Textilbelts (worn in the Trousers) were awful!

Also Private Boots could be worn & The Company Coppler

added Heel Irons for a small Fee. In  ~1963 we got the new LeatherKoppel (Belt) what looked similar to the Old Reichswehr Koppel. Some Soldiers came from the BGS Bundesgrenzschutz who perhaps just kept their doubleclaw Belts?

What about the Brass Buckle? The Belt Loop fastener looks very Spanish to me! (I got Spanish Civil War Time Belts)

like the Legion Uniforms.. maybe made in Spain for the Germans? Thanks & Regards Jurgen

    11. Hi Danny Thanks!

well Y perhaps right! I could not tell the Differance to

another similar Cross I had (with Box) & was Original

how can You tell? - Why shall be "Fakes" be made in

such elaborate Work ? Cost more  as they can be Pur

chased? actualy as I was still in Germany Iron Crosses

First & Second Class costed about 60 Marks to 20..

I hear nearly any German Soldier got the second Class

In 1WW they dish them out in "Messtins!" to the Front

nothing really special? Well just my Opinion..

PS. How much You think cost now an

      Original EK 1..? just curious..

      Regards Jurgen
