Great close-up pictures. As Joe said the 1870 Ek shows some very nice detail.
Could you show us the entire cross?

You will find a genuine piece, but it may take awhile, and you may have to pay a bit.
They ARE still out there. I found my 1813 on Ebay of all places.

I think he means that we seldom see the REAL wider Austrian ribbon as opposed to trifolds with thinner German ribbon.
Best
Chris
That was my thought exactly. Thanks for clarifying it.
Just out of curiosity -- what does a Rothe & Neffe makers mark look like? I
have seen the Meybauer mistakenly discribed as the R&N makers mark.
Can someone please post a picture?
Thanks,
Greg

Nice crosses. The full sized cross looks to have the correct "wide" ribbon.
I do have a question. How do you attribute these to Rothe & Neffe ? I have never
actually seen a cross theat could be traced to that firm.

Nice cross.
The Godet with "Fangs" is one of my favorite crosses.

Nice cross. From the very sharp, clean details I would guess that this
is probably a 1870 issue cross. As for the attachment. It looks like
a repair job. The soldered on ring may have broke off and the easy fix was
to drill a hole.

I could't find the stamp referenced on the Maker's list from the Kaiser's Bunker website
He has it referenced with the 1st. class crosses as simply "unknown"
BTW- That is a very nice variation.

Actual mini "medal bars" are relatively uncommon. Button hole minis and Frack
chains are much more common. The "rarity" of the piece is like that of the fullsized
versions. A mini PLM or Blackeagle is going to be a lot harder to find then the
Ek or Hindenburg cross.
BE WARNED------Those little beauties ARE addicting.

a better scan as requested

I appreciate your help with this.
Here is a scan showing the corners that you had highlighted.
IMO they are a similar style but they do not match. It's hard to say for sure but
the beading at the corners does not look like a match to me. Close but not quite.

Not that I am questioning the knowledge of those with WAY more experience than
myself BUT would a TR era cross have the bump on the frame where the ring attaches?
I have seen other 1870s with this feature but wonder if this would carry through to the
1930s-40s.
Just thinking out loud

At $350 each---I think I might have a few for sale

This reminds me of some of the old SURFER crosses from the '60s.

but did not give any futher information.

I have heard that copies of the new book are being shipped
Has anyone here received their copy yet? How does it compare to the 1st edition?

All the details are silver. they are just slightly polished and the outer frame
is tarnished. ( I did not want to polish it to match the details) It is
single sided so the back is just flat tarnished silver that is building
up some patina like you would see on the back of a silver EK1.

Just picked this up today. 21.5mm mini on a 16mm ribbon. It appears to be
solid silver with an enamel core. It has some scratches and pits but it still looks
nice.

Very nice cross !! I have one that could be a twin to it
but of coarse mine is missing the back plate.

looks like a muffin crown on the 1813 reverse

not neccessarily. I think it really depends on how the cross was stored. I have seen
a few EKs that looked very clean and bright that I do not believe were polished.
