Interesting thread .
I have not been out to the battlefield sense the mid 1960s. As a kid I lived out west.
Spent many years in the Black Hills and Big Horn mountains.

Thank you guys, I appreciate the comments.

it's a good theory. I had originally thought that it may have been this long
for some sort of memorial display. But looking at the large amount of the
whitening that fallen of the ols silk ribbon, I would say it was worn or handled----often.

On can't have too many of these in his collection. Very nice.
I wholeheartedly agree. Thank you for the comment.

Thank you Gentleman for the feedback.

The ribbon is a full 12 inches long. Its been folded and then the two cut ends sewn
together on the backside.

Nice cross except for the buggered corner on the lower arm.

My newest addition. You can probably see why I wanted it.
This is the first one I have seen with a ribbon this long.

No, but I do have a few better(IMO) ones entered.

Nothing was resized. The boots is a cast pewter bookend of my wifes and the helmet is
from a "Ghost of the Red baron" model kit.

I just found this nice Iron cross table medal. It measures 106mm and weighs
in a 456 gms.

The scary part is---people are actually bidding on it
I was at a show this last weekend and there was a 3/4 sized prinzen ek2.
The guy wanted $2200 for it. I told him he was nuts and that it was a
real good cross for $150-$200. He told me to get lost.

yep!!
sometimes the backs are more fun to
look at than the fronts

I've been saying that for years

a great cross and a nice addition to your collection.

Prices are becoming just plain stupid. It's common now to see standard 1914 Ek2 priced
at $150 or more. Maybe I'm just getting cheap in my old age but I can't see paying
these kinds of prices.

Chalk it up to artistic license on behalf of the Ek manufacture or to the quality
of the core castings / stampings. Few of mine have well defined crosses either.
You could always post pictures here for more opinions.

One piece alloy cross presumably made late war or inter war. Some believe them
to be made by Schickle but truth is, we don't know for sure. These can be found
in 2nd class and 1st class versions with pin back and / or screwback attachments.

Good score, Micha.

Bigger, better pictures would help but I don't like this cross.
There is a fake that matches this that distinguised by the bad
looking crown on the obverse side. Notice the alignment of the
sweatband under the crown. On the fake, it overhangs the right
side of the edge of the crown.

Very nice !

Thanks for posting these. The one shown at the begining of this thread
is a style I have not seen before.

Nice!!
Can you post a close up of the cross?

Show your minis
in Germany: Imperial: The Orders, Decorations and Medals of The Imperial German States
Posted · Edited by gregM
I love these--.
There are neat but they are not actually German minis. These were made by Lowell
Toy corp of New York and were given as prizes in cereal boxes way back when, There
was a set of them you could collect which included the Victoria Cross and Silver Star
among others.
Here is one of mine still on it's card and in original plastic wrapper. There is a coupon
inside that states that is you redeem 4 coupons and $1.00 You will receive a "Beautiful
gold stamped album" to display them.
