[attachmentid=61458]I thought this was a Hymenn, not so sure right now comparing it to the thread below. The setup on the reverse looks like a Hymenn setup also, but like opinions at this point. John

Giorgio,
I believe Michel's example is marked on the pin. Mine is unmarked, but you can always identify a Zimmermann as all four arms of the swastika are cut out. On Mayer and Schickle badges only 3 arms are cut out, the top arm remains solid..
Dear Gordon
Many thanks.
I have asked Michel to show his badge . Dead silence
cheers

Here is my Zimmermann, obtained last year in Kassel thanks to the kindness of Marc (Langemarck)
Dear Gordon
You have ever beautiful badges . Many thanks for your kindness .
Other question : is the mm on the pin as I have seen in a Michel's pic or on the boat ?
I have never seen on the market this type . Is it very hard to find ?
When you decide to sell a badge like this pleas remember me
yours sincerely

Gordon !
Thanks !
I had my serious doubt about these Urkunden .
But Urkunden is not my strong side .
Jan Arne
Hello Jan
fakes. Among other things the signature on Hilfskreuzer (Weyher) is wrong and "Koln" was a kreuzer , you can find some Flottenkriegsabz for kriegsfahrten on kreuzer Koln

Georgio,
There are two badges which are almost identical. The badge by Hymmen, sometimes marked L/53, and the one you havee which is almost identical, but with some very slight differences to the eagle head, chest and the U-Boat. Both absolutely genuine examples from the period. Genuine Hymmen badges are very rare.
This is a Hymmen piece. Look very closely at the eagles head and body and around the conning tower of the submarine and you will see several differences.
Hello Gordon
You are quite right as usually happens.
It is not Hymmen
What is most surprising is that you are unable to give this artist (maker) a name . I think his badges are really meaningful , much more than those by Schwerin praised to the skies by everybody .
I hope that in your forthcoming book you will give space to this maker
Many thanks , yours sincerely

Can you help me to get out of this maze of ideas ?

Hello
I own two documents concerning Obersteuermann Bruns :Spanien kreuz and UBootkriegsabz
There is no doubt that the UBoot document comes from the expeditions on U415 and U953 .
I am just wondering whether you can suggest me how to find out if the Spanien kreuz has been granted for boarding on a UBoot or simply on a warship .
Thank you very much for everything you will be able to do for me .
cheers

Although I never see a reply from you back after an answer, I will help you with your question.
Good original document and signature, from what I can see of that part.
Signed by Hans Cohausz, Fregattenkapit?n, Chef 11.U-Flottille.

Dear Eric-Jan
Thank you for your kind reply.
If I get a thorough answer it is useless for me to go on on the matter
Kindest regards
giorgio
PS I don't know very well the English language consequently I am in trouble to state possible opinions ; last but not least I am not an expert but an apprentice. I am a fisherman

Hello Gordon
As usual you are far ahead of every one in brillant ideas . The issue you raise is rather intrigning and not trivial at all .
In my opinion your remark is well-grounded : as a matter of fact style variations should not be thought of as outstanding or unusual.
I hope that the matter , once raised, will be further investigated (last but not least thanks to the book you are giving to publish)
Good luck !
yours sincerely
giorgio
PS : sorry for my english

Naval honour clasp

Hello John
You are right . The badge looks certainly funny . I have heard some opinions .The original had sharper points to the pin ; attachement point of the pins to the badge were much more smoothly done
I have put off , I am not very interested in the Honour Clasps .
Many thanks
