It's unusual that most of them have green background while Navy & Navy Technical Service have dark blue and Air Force & Air Force Technical Service light blue - the same as with the military education badges. I've seen some JNA ones with red background and some just golden, I bet infantry must be red... Was that nuclear biologist-chemist you saw on green background?
I checked the adds and auction and apart from the ones you already mentioned I stumbled upon Artillery (I'm not sure but looks like black background!), Veterinarian and Navy Technical Service, there must be more...0 -
I must admit I never really payed that much attention to cufflinks but it certainly is an interesting field for collecting. So far I mostly came across Air Force, Navy and JNA, I think branches and services are rarer.

Congrats on your newest addition
Do you perhaps know did every branch and service have its own cufflinks?0 -
You can search the Official Gazette here.
If you wish I can check if something can be dug up, just send me PM with name0 -

Very nice, thanks for sharing!
Do you perhaps know which year was your great-grandpa awarded with Merits for the People?0 -
You are welcome.
I think there was a list of 1300 corporals published somewhere but it's also incomplete because I couldn't find my family member in it.
When I return home I will open a separate topic about it.
At least six of my family members went through Albania, four of whom are direct line ancestors. Unfortunately only two medals and one awarding document were passed over to me.

Were your predecessors members of the Association or just recipients of the Albanian Retreat Medal?
I don't know the exact number of recipients, when it comes to Serbian citizens there were at least 142.000, not all of them were members of the Association.
Also, it seems like there were two Associations, first one from the interwar period and the second one from 1967(?). That site contains list of over 7.000 names and it is stated that those are members who joined the Association after its institution in 1967.

Soviet type is made out of two pentagonal metal plates while Yugoslav is made out of single one. When you take a look at the back side you can see two rivets on the Soviet ones, they are on the sides, close to the needle.

I just remembered I wrote about the total number of the Soviet made Bravery Orders on other forum. According to Rudež Soviets made 25.750 pieces.
When it comes to those Yugo made ones with Soviet suspensions, so far I've seen them in 38K-50K range.

You're welcome.
Unfortunately I'm on vacation so I can't give you precise numbers now, as soon as I get back I'll check Rudež's book and let you know. Number of made ones is certainly larger than of awarded. I read somewhere that some of the unawarded Soviet pieces were melted and the material was used for the production of the Yugo type. Those orders have Soviet pentagonal metal ''suspensions''.
The highest number on the Soviet type I've seen so far was 15XXX. I think numbers on Yugo type start from 10K.

Don't mention it, a lot more information can be found HERE.
Unfortunately some photos are not visible since the last forum upgrade but you can open them "manually" - just copy the link (example: http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly....jpg) into your browser's search bar and press enter0 -

Speaking of Bravery orders has anyone seen this variation before? They started appearing just recently, at least I didn't notice them before. They look like Type 2.5 but have huge numbers (500K!) on the back side and that pentagonal metal piece that holds the ribbon isn't gilded, but strangely enough the needle is.
They were not being offered as some RRR variant nor was their price any higher than of the regular orders.

Excellent, thanks!

Just as I thought Thanks, Nick!

I wasn't thinking about Croatia in particular, some of our neighbors have far worse looking decorations, don't want to offend anyone so I won't mention any names

Here's one more LINK
Are these badges so common or is it something else?

1877-78 St. George Cross - Serbian Recipients
in Russia: Imperial
Posted · Edited by paja
"An Imperial Russian St. George Cross 4th Class Issued to a Serbian during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877–78
Silver Cross, 34.4mm x 34.35mm, numbered # 52552, without ribbon and suspension, in worn condition. Footnote: according to the records, cross # 52552 was awarded to NCO Petar Vojić, from Kragujevac Corps. A very rare award to a Serbian soldier, with estimated less then 100 awards to the Serbian soldiers."
Just noticed this very interesting piece of Russo-Serbian history here. A few corrections, recipient's name is not Petar Vojić (Петар Војић) but Petar Đojić (Петар Ђојић) and he was not from the Kragujevac Corps but Kragujevac Brigade --- Šumadija Corps (Шумадијски корпус), II Division (II дивизија), Kragujevac Brigade (Крагујевачка бригада). Also it is not true that there were less than 100 awards to Serbian soldiers. On the fifth photo in the ad you can see just the first page with names of the recipients, full list contains exactly 150 names.
