Thanks for detailed photos! I'll see if I can dig up something about the author.

Thanks for information regarding the book and the badge.
So they were used for only about two years, looking at those examples I'd say they were casted.
Model from 1953 (1947) is also very similar to the royal one, it had new coat of arms and red star instead of crown.0 -
Excellent, many thanks! I'll see if I can dig up names of the representatives from the French press.

Don't mention it, as I said before, I don't have many of them and my knowledge is pretty limited when it comes to this subject.
Looking forward to your post, I hope others will contribute as well.
In the mean time here's one civilian awarded to a family member.

Thanks for the scan! I presume it's from the "Partizanska vojska i Jugoslavenska armija 1941-1953", I definitely have to get a copy. What do the authors say about them, when were they introduced?
I think I read somewhere in Rudež's book about Gagarin receiving Yugo Flag. Crew members of the Apollo 11 were awarded with the Yugoslav Stars.0 -

Considering the date, 20 October, I presume this one is related to the Liberation of Belgrade and awarded by Stari grad municipal assembly.

I was discussing YPA plaques with BalkanCollector and he suggested that we open a separate topic about them.
Generally speaking I don't collect them myself, but it's an interesting subject so I'll post a few I have around my apartment hoping that other forum members will do the same.SUBNOR plaque (Savez udruženja boraca narodnooslobodilačkog rata - Federation of Veterans' Associations of the People's Liberation War)

Now that you've mentioned that some of the shoulder boards looked the same...here's an interesting photo of two officers in a Harley Davidson. The right one is wearing a Kingdom of Yugoslavia Pilot Badge. The photo is not very clear but you can see that it appears to be either Kingdom or Socialist Yugoslavia Pilot Badge. Considering that this photo was taken during wartime it can only be the Kingdom type.

Before the introduction of those well know badges there were cloth type and I think one more. Here's a photo of a 1st lieutenant who seems to wear both of them, unfortunately I can't remember where did I find it. If not that then perhaps something foreign.
Perhaps they are wearing this badge.

Could this by any chance be US WW1 era blanket?
I already posted it HERE.
It's pretty heavy and rough and it has no labels nor inscriptions.
All comments are welcome.0 -
It's interesting to see that a Soviet citizen received Soviet made Yugoslav orders.
That Romanian Star has a pretty strange crown, I don't remember seeing orders like that before.0 -
Excellent comparison, thanks for great photos!

I saw it couple of weeks ago on a Serbian auction site, the price was about the same but no one bid.
I think the lowest number I've seen so far is 55, it can be seen in the book "Orders and Medals of Communist Yugoslavia".0 -

I've seen orders like that before, there's a couple of them in Sammler's base, but I really don't know what's the deal there.
Considering that that's a needle variant I think it's safe to conclude it can't be some kind of prototype, unadopted solution or something like that. Factory mistake?
Here's one more, it seems like only the central part is gilded. It got sold some time ago, I still regret not buying it.

Thanks to your comparison I think it's safe to conclude it's the same person.

I second that motion! Unfortunately I don't collect plaques, I have just a few of them in my collection, and I don't know much about them.

Yes, it's unfortunate that we don't have better photos...
Good eye, I missed that detail!

Very interesting, thanks for photos. This is the first time I see something like that, doesn't look official to me, but even better, it's more unique. If I remember well VTA was located in Zagreb, was your grandfather on duty in Sarajevo at the time he received the plaque? I ask because I can't see the connection between his graduation anniversary and Sarajevo Olympics
