Thanks Karsten, do you know his rate? Hochstein was an Obermaschinisten-Maat in 1902 and a Maschinist in 1906. Cheers Captain Albert

Thank you both - that is helpful. One of the ones you can't read is the Transport Aveyron. He went to Vietnam on her and earned the Tonkin Medal. On their return the Ship was ship wrecked on the Horn of Africa. Cheers Captain Albert

Great bar - should be able to ID owner. Very high rank. Medals: British Order of the Bath, British Order of St. Micheal and St. George, Queens South Africa (Boar War), Kings South Africa (Boar War), 1914 Star (Mons bar), British War Medal (WW1), British Victory Medal (WW1 - with "MID" mention in Dispatches), French Legion of Honor (Officer), I believe Belgium, French Croix of war - two Army level palms, I believe Belgium War Cross (Croix) with palm, and United States Army Distinguished Service Medal. Can't give you price, but very high. Cheers Captain Albert

Thanks Karsten, very nice photos and a fantastic "group" to Herrmann. I was checking the dates on the military pass book - and Paul Hoshstein served on the S.M.S. Habicht 3/11/03 to 2/11/04 so was not part of the landing party. Thank you very much for your help. Good luck with the missing certificates. Cheers Captain Albert

I was told that the mint produced medals were for the Navy. I don't know if this is true. Cheers Captain Albert

Thank you guys - that is very interesting and helpful. Still very nice even if he was not with the landing party, only working on the trains. But that still leaves the question: was he authorized the "Hereroland" bar? Karsten you have a nice collection of "Habicht" material - lots of photos. Hochstein's Third Reich pass book has a photo of him (age 64), maybe we can find him in your photos. Again thank you both. Cheers Captain Albert

I can not verify the medal bar (only that is what was awarded) to Ober Maschinisten (Chief Machinist mate), honorary Lieutenant a. D. Paul Hochstein. I have bought his Imperial and Third Reich military pass books and a retirement document. His book lists the South West Africa medal in bronze. I have not verified him as part of the landing party yet. I am trying to work on that (any help would be appreciated). He served on S.M.S. Habicht 3/11/1903 to 2/11/1904. Great photos - Cheers Captain Albert

Thanks Hardy - I totally agree one bar. Would make sense. It is to bad I had an issued "Hereroland" bar a while back and traded it. Can't win them all. Cheers Captain Albert

The decision of the so called "Justice Department" is what is the problem is in this country. In stead of giving the law back to congress to clean up, they blindly challenge the correct decision. Typical stupid politically correct thinking in action. I think the people should read more about what Thomas Jefferson's was thinking. Cheers Captain Albert

Queen's Boer War pick up
in Great Britain: Orders, Gallantry, Campaign Medals
Posted
Hello all. I do not really collect British anymore, but got this Boar War Medal at an antique show in Loeta, CA. It is named to 16515 Pte. W. G. Card R.A.M. C. Since I have been out of the British collecting for a while can anyone give me any information on Mr. Card, and the value of the Medal. It is in extra fine condition except edge knock at 5:30. Thanks Cheers Captain Albert
