Very nice document.
Free passage for the Oberleutnant zur See Franz Christoph Schroeder traveling to Konstantinopel - June 13 1905
We Wilhelm of God's grace - German Emperor and King of Prussia, etc. etc. etc.
... wish that all military and civilian authorities of foreign states will honor the promise, and I order all our own military and civilian authorities, to give free passage and if necessary protection to Oberleutnant zur See Franz Christoph Schroeder traveling to Konstantinopel on special assignment by the emperor's order.
In 1909 we find Franz Christoph Schroeder as Kapitänleutnant on board the large cruiser Gneisenau.
Wow, Thanks Naxos, boy I sure wish I could read German. Thanks Again Cheers Captain Albert

This ribon bar was sold by rittmeister.com with some documents from Frg.Kpt. Franz-Christoph Schroeder.
If you are the buyer you still had the name.
Regards Alex
Yes Alex, I have the grouping now (in mail). I did not have an identification of the ribbons, or his other awards. Cheers Captain Albert

Christophe

Thanks, Paul you are probably correct. Cheers Captain Albert
I had someone respond on his ribbon bar and they said the TsM is the Turkish Liakat Medal. Is that correct or was that medal awarded to him in WW1? Cheers Captain Albert

nice one!!!
Prussia+wartime-only bar of Cdr Franz Christoph Schroeder.
The Colonial Medal is for Venezuela, Mecklenburg is indeed Schwerin.
He had as well a EK1 and the Oldenburg Cross 1st class.
Not shown are his pre-war foreign orders, Siam Crown Order 4th cl, Turkish Osmanie Order 4th cl. and the Turkish silver Liakat.
Greetings
Daniel
Thank you very much Daniel really very helpful. I knew he served on S.M.S. Charlotte. A question: you said pre War foreign awards were Siam Crown Order 4th cl, Turkish Osmanie Order 4th cl. and the Turkish silver Liakat Medal. Not the "Türkischer Medschidie Orden" as an other member stated. So what is TsM in the rangsliste? Cheers Captain Albert

I think what you have is his wartime bar. Remember that as an officer would receive awards he would up date his bar. So he may have several versions of his ribbon bar. At the end of the war he would have had a 10-11 place bar which is not too wide.
Thanks, Paul you are probably correct. Cheers Captain Albert

Thank you both for the help, it is beginning to look like I got the top half of his ribbon bar. bottom half has at least: Long Service Cross, SK4 =Siam Order of the Crown 4th Class, TO4 = Turkish Osmanie Order 4th, TsM = Turkish Order of Medijie probably 5th
This is a little more that I bargained for. I guess I will have a lot of reading to do, when his two diaries show up. Again Thank you guys. I do appreciate it. Here is the bar coming with his materials.
Cheers Captain Albert
