    1. Hi to all I haven't posted anything for a while, but hopefully can bring some more interesting bits and pieces to the club, starting with this excellent photo. I apologise for the poor quality of my photos, but the picture is too big to scan, and unfortunately I was not able to photograph the 'map' at the top which tells you which person is which, according to their number at the bottom. Basically, No. 1 (Surgeon-Major Greenhow), is the chap standing on the far left, and the numbers run along to the other end of standing men to No.13 (Lieut-Colonel Graeme - my great Grandfather), then No. 14 (Mr Dodd), is the man sitting on the left, and the numbers run along to the other end to No. 20 (Major-General Chamier). I hope that is clear!! Alex
    2. Hi Stuart A simple process - I scanned the original with my Canon MP210, transferring it on to Picasa (a excellent free download off the internet which I use for all my photos), then cropped each section using Picasa, before using 'Paint' to reduce it down to under 150k. No great technology used - just a cheap printer/scanner and Picasa!! Alex
    3. ...and finally, a close up of the crowd, in case that is of interest... Thanks Alex
    4. I have done some close ups to see if this helps at all with any of the discussions...here we go...

    6. So far I have a couple of 'samples' from my cousin's father's collection of glass slides from his time in Palestine (see topic: My link ). I will get more on here once I have them, and hope they are of interest. I have tried to scan them, but that did not work, so photographed the slides in the end, which has worked okay. 7. Thanks for the great information, both of you. Looking at the London Gazette, it is quite amazing what can be found on there - I've found several references to 'John Edward Sharp' and his military career, as well as his home addresses in the latter part of his life. I'm still not sure why we have his medals, but maybe that is a link we can make in the future. Any thoughts on the value of these medals would be helpful, as I have no idea at all! Thanks again, Alex

    9. Please educate me about these medals! Obviously two of them are Crimea medals, but the one in the middle I have no idea about. The medal on the right is named to 'Capt John Edwd Sharp The Royal Regiment'. Why would he receive two Crimea medals, assuming they are both his? These have been in our family's possession for as long as we know, but we do not know, at this stage, why we have them. I can only presume that he had some link to our family. If more photos would help, I will take some tomorrow in the daylight. Do they have much value? If we can not trace the reason for why we have them, we would possibly part with them at some stage. Many thanks Alex
