    1. Photosammler - back on stage again ?

Yes and no, I closed my website, but will use another of my domains for storing photos which I want to show in Forums like this one.

      This just for info.

      Now to the topic.

I got a number of photographs yesterday.

A bearded old fellow is on them, Hauptmann in a Gebirgsj?ger regiment in WW 2.

He has quite a remarkable ribbon bar ( something for Rick ) and another award, a cross unknown to me.

      He seems to be austrian.

      Show You some photos first.

The photos are not the very best quality, but interesting.

    2. Two photos of a german officer, rank was Oberstleutnant, with a foreign neck decoration on one photo:

      heer3314.jpg

The soldier standing to his left, a general I suppose, has the same award (???) in a higher grade ?

      heer3315.jpg

My questions - what nation is the general ?

What awards are they wearing around their necks ?

And of course any other infos and comments welcome, as always.

      Thanks in advance

      Robert

    3. Got some fieldpost letters with some interesting unit stamps.

They are all from one person. Leutnant Splitgerber

      They are in that order:

      2.2.16 -- Feld-Flieger-Abteilung 29

      4.3.16 -- Kampf-Einsitzer Abteilung 1

12.8.16 -- Stamp is from Artillery but the senders address is Feldfl. 29

      18.9.16 -- Kampf-Einsitzer Abteilung G.H.Q.

      20.12.16 -- Jagdstaffel 12

      12.2.17 -- Jagdstaffel 12

      1.6.17 -- Franciscus-Sanatorium Berlin

The last one was probably after he got wounded or ill from an hospital.

      Question:

Anything known about a Leutnant Splitgerber ?

      What does the abbreviation G.H.Q. mean ? General-Haupt-Quartier ?

      Kind regards

      Robert

    4. This may be a little "Off Topic", but nonetheless interesting.

For several years I have this postcard

      may001.jpg

Two weeks ago, on german Ebay, I found the album of one of these boys. I recognized the relationship between the album and the postcard and did my best to get it. --- Got it.

      may002.jpg

The album is not really a photo album but with pages to fill in just everything about the child. These kind of albums are even today quite popular.

      may003.jpg

This is the album of Eugen Martin May, born 15th march 1928.

      .......

    5. Photo from today's fleamarket.

      pfarrer1.jpg

      Detail of the medal bar:

      pfarrer1a.jpg

From left the Bavarian War Merit cross, IC 2nd class, the 14-18 cross and ???

And what is the cross below the bar ? A Red-Cross decoration ?

Interestingly the card was written by a priest of this group from Dachau in 1942.

      pfarrer1b.jpg

      A death-card from same fleamarket:

      sb-mutter.jpg

Just to be sure - she has the Mutterkreuz and the 14-18 cross for widows, right ?

      Kind regards

      Robert

    6. I got this postcard yesterday on a fleamarket:

      ak-husaren1.jpg

A nice card, although it is damaged by two holes, but I liked the design.

Now, this card was written by Wilhelm Volrad von Rauchhaupt who was the author of a 1957 published book, named "Preussisches Herz" - "Prussian Heart".

He writes about the publishing in the text.

      ak-husaren1a.jpg

What I would like to know - who was von Rauchhaupt and what did he has to do with the Braunschweig Husars ?

      Any info welcome, as always.

      Thanks in advance

      Robert

    7. Some time ago, one or two years, I got a group photo of Reichswehr Musicians ( Rick will remember, cause he identified some of the men )

I can not find the thread anymore, maybe it wasn't even in this Forum.

Today I got this beautiful portrait:

      rw2063.jpg

It has a dedication and signature on the back:

      rw2063a.jpg

I remembered that Rick told me, that this was the former Musikmeister of the Bavarian Infanterie-Leibregiment who also was the composer of the Badenweiler-Marsch, the regimental march.

It took me one hour to search for the group photo which is still in my collection, but was not stored in the right place.

Anyway. Glad that I got this nice portrait today - and yes - it was cheap. While the rest of the collectors here look for KC-Holders, Tiger-Tanks and Me-109 photos, I am always willing to pay low money for some really rare birds like this one.

      Kind regards

      Robert

    8. I got this photo and I think it shows the Kronprinz Wilhelm von Preussen

      1wk-1.jpg

It is a real photo, not a printed postcard, that's the back:

      1wk-1a.jpg

The back is not like other postcards from the royalties, no name on it.

Is it right, that he wears the uniform of a officer of the Berlin Garde Regiment ?

On other postcards one can see the Kronprinz with much more decorations.

From what time could this photo be ?

Or isn't it the Kronprinz ?

      Thanks for Your comments.

      Robert
