Another nice photo, partly colorized, of an old hunting fellow with medal bar
Dated 1933 and made at Dresden
Are the medals wartime decorations ?
Kind regards

Another nice photo from yesterdays fleamarket.
This is a "posed" photo-scene made in a studio, but not a postcard.
Purpose of this shot is unknown. Maybe a "test-shot" for a postcard ?
Photographer's mark from Mei?en.
Something in this scene makes me like it, don't know what, but it is nice.
Kind regards

You all know the german traditions of students wearing uniforms. A collectible subject of its own.
Got some photos yesterday, which I find interesting.
These are students of the university at T?bingen. Photo was made 19. February 1914
Another photo shows them on horsebacks, dated 7. july 1914
You can of course presume that all these young academics went straight on to the battlefields of WW 1, and so one of them pictured above, was killed
in the "war to end all wars".

No. 16 from the list, Karl Schm?ckle.
Got that nice photo yesterday on a fleamarket (as usual).
It was in an album of a female Arbeitsmaid. ( Very low money )
Nice double-row ribbon bar
Kind regards

Both have the title "Graf"
Names are on the back.
Place was Mielau which is in Poland ( Mlawa ).
One is Oberlautnant Graf von Stelberg ( or Stolberg ), the other is Leutnant Graf von Merveldt ( ??? not sure about the name )
Anyone more info about them ?
Kind regards

Got this nice family portrait today.
Probably one of the saxonian royalties ?
He has a Hohenzollern neck decoration ( I'm improving my knowledge of imperial awards ), quite a respectable ribbon bar ( which is not really sharp on the photo ) and a breast-star.
It's NOT a postcard, but a more or less private photography, done in Dresden
Anyone knows that guy ?
Kind regards

Nice catch from today's fleamarket
Three chaplains, 1st Worldwar
The chaplain far left is wearing a small cross on is cap
The chaplain in the middle is wearing a Tresse on his collar. Chaplains had no ranks. But I guess from the armband that he is a chaplain.

Well, where should a royal bavarian huntsman have been in the military ??
Right. Bavarian J?ger Battallion - Alpenkorps.
Along with the letter were a few postcards, nothing military but some nice Feldpost stamps:
Found a bit more about Freiherr von Wolfskeel.
He was a friend of the bavarian Prinzregent Luitpold, who called him to court. Luitpold was the godfather of his second son, Graf Luitpold von Wolfskeel, who helped to built up the bavarian airforce in 1912.
Interesting is, that Wolfskeel is somtimes written with double "ff" and sometimes not.
The Wolffskeels still live on a castle near W?rzburg.
Kind regards

Rick, thank You very much. You are a true fountain of knowledge.
I tried various kinds of Wolfs... at google, but never would have seen Wolfskeel in that signature.
Perfect !
Here is the rest of the document.
It is a letter for a hunting fellow "Jagdaufseher" ( don't know a word in english ) to tell him about his admission to the royal bavarian hunting organisation.
The letter was written by the " K?niglich-Bayerischer Oberststallmeister Stab " where Freiherr von Wolfskeel probably was the chief of.
Quite a nice document, not my collecting field, but I couldn't leave it at the fleamarket table last sunday and it only was a few cents. ( How I love my turkish sellers who are not able to read a word in german and don't care about old letters anway )
Kind regards

I need help with this signature
Freiherr ???? von Wolfsch.... ????
He was somehow related to the bavarian staff around the royalties. Especially the royal hunting organisation.
Any help is highly welcome.
Thanks in advance

Details of the cuff-title ( wish I had a better one )
Now one of the Reichsluftschutzbund
And last one for now, a group of civil airbase personnel

Notice the differences between the portrait and the group photo.
The men in the group do not wear the GL on collar tabs, they wear them directly on the collar.
They also do not wear a Luftwaffe breast eagle, but the metal GL badge instead.
And they wear side-caps without eagle but with a soutache. Quite interesting.
Next one is from the Sicherheits- und Hilfsdienst

Now the GL

and yet another one
Next one is a Oberstabsintendant. His name was Martin Zwing. He was on duty at the airbase Bad Aibling.
Next one - I am not sure if this is an official. Narrow shoulder boards but almost like a general ?
However, I like that photo very much. I believe that it was taken at Amsterdam.

A Bavarian Official - nice uniform
in Germany: Imperial Uniforms, Headwear, Insignia & Personal Equipment
Posted · Edited by Robert Noss
I don't know nothing at all about these imperial officials, but they had very nice uniforms
The photo was made at Ingolstadt, an old army location where Bavarian Engineers were trained and a lot of army administration was stationed as well.
Any more info about this man ?
Kind regards
Robert
