    1. Hello all,

Just for clarification, if I have a Golden Kite document issued in 1940, then the color of the inscription on the box should be silver, right? Just want to make sure I'm accurate about this. Thanks in advance!

    2. Hello everyone,

I was looking for some guidance on a particular golden kite. Anyone have an opinion on whether this is a 6th or 7th and from what period it is from? I am just no good at telling them apart. thanks!!

    3. Just wondering if anyone saw the 1st Class Auspicious Cloud for sale on Ebay? I am not by any means endorsing it...I was just curious if anyone thought it was worth the asking price of a cool $25,000? (there are more pics on ebay)

    4. I recently sold my old iphone to a guy in Russia who claimed to have never received it...we went back and forth on email, he opened a case and I had to pay him in full. Ebay is, without a doubt, designed to protect the buyer and NOT the seller. I would suggest if you are shipping international to pay extra and get a tracking number and delivery confirmation...that is where I messed up and ended up basically giving my item away.

    5. Thanks Dieter3. If you can get the name for me, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks again!

April 1st, 39th year of Meiji = 1906. Somebody else will have to translate the name, or I can have it done when I get home tonight by my resident translator....laugh.gif

    6. I second that congrats to the seller. I sure wasn't me that won...my bidding stopped long before it got that high.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there really is no way to match a medal to a document. The seller split the medal and document and they went to two different people. But there really is no way to say that the medal was the actual one issued to him in the first place, right? The seller claims it is, but there is no way to prove OR disprove that fact...so wouldn't any Nomonhan medal be just as good with the document?

I listed a cased Nomonhan medal a while back on ebay at a much lower price and it failed to sell ! The seller was lucky, but it is a pity that they medal and document were split up like that.

    7. Thanks alot for your help Rich!

The first was awarded to Army Infantry Sergeant Goshi (?) Hidekazu. Awarded 7/10/1936.

The second was awarded to Akada Daisaburou (or Tasaburou) on 11/10/1940. This gentleman has no military rank noted, but he had achieved the Junior 5th Rank (Colonel if an Army soldier) and had received the 4th Class ST or RS and the 5th Class Golden Kite.

      Cheers,

      Rich (imperialjapan)

    8. Somebody has made this up. War medals were awarded on a straight ribbon even when given to a female recipient (I have 1904-05 medals to female nurses and they are the normal issue medal, not a bow ribbon). Commemorative medals and orders were worn on a bow ribbon, as were Red Cross medals. War medals were not.

Thanks for the info Paul. Glad I didn't buy it!

    9. I saw this female Boxer Rebellion Medal at a military collectables show. Has anyone ever seen one of these? Would you consider it more desirable / valuable than the male version? Thanks (sorry for the poor quality of the picture...it was a cell phone camera)

    10. Hello,

I have started collecting documents and wanted to get a little clarification. I noticed that all the documents I have collected so far have the chrysanthemum watermark. I have two Russo-Japan documents and neither one has the mark. Is this correct or do I have fakes? Thanks
