    1. I once had a PLM like the one staring this thread. Sometimes you see this piece with the German Patent Pending stamp on the back. They are all the same with the legs drilled out (especially noticeable from the back). Mine even had the same style of suspension loop which was the same as the ring on a key chain, albeit gold plated. I'll try an see if I have a scan of it, but I doubt it.

By the way I bought the piece at a gun show for about $25.00.

    2. Here is a link showing the connection between Pam Sterner and the Stolen Valor Act. Her good intentions I believe got corrupted once the bureucratic process started. I don't consider her a villianese, just ill advised. I believe the actual person who screwed this up for all is FBI Crusader Agent Cottone. He is the problem and has an agenda.

    3. After the first response from the office I Representative Simpson, R-Idaho. I rep;ied back with the doc off the OMSA site. Her reply:

      "Dan,

Thank you for the information and explanation. I will certainly discuss this issue with the Congressman and let him know of the difficulties it has created. Unfortunately, Congressman Simpson is not on the committee with jurisdiction over this issue. I would recommend that you continue to work with the Orders and Medals Society of America as well as the Judiciary Committee, which has jurisdiction over this law, to implement the changes needed to protect the rights of our military men and women while, at the same time, guaranteeing the rights of collectors and those who work to preserve and honor our great military men and women and their traditions.

      Best,

      Megan"

Perhaps some good advice on direction and approach. I still haven't heard anyhing from the Senators. One more wek and I'll call.

    4. Here is what I heard from Congressman Simpson, R-Idaho.

      Dear Daniel,

My name is Megan XXXXXX and I am Congressman Simpson's Legislative Assistant in charge of Military and Veterans Issues. The Congressman asked me to respond to your letter by email in order to expedite the response.

The Stolen Valor Act was designed to expand federal law enforcement's ability to prosecute individuals who claim to have received military medals they did not earn. It was supported by a number of organizations including the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Vietnam Veterans of America, and the FBI Agents Association. Because current law only allowed prosecution of imposters who wear an unearned Medal of Honor on their person, this legislation will expand the law to include those who publicly claim to be decorated veterans, allowing the Federal Bureau of Investigation to finally prosecute several high profile cases. I have included a link to a website which discusses the legislation and highlights some examples of cases in which it was meant to target.

This bill passed the House on December 6, 2006 by voice vote rather than by recorded vote.

      Thanks,"

I reponded with the letter posted earlier. Once again they site Home of Heroes. Pam Sterner, The web sites owner's wife started this whole mess.

Don't give up. There has to be 1 in 100, or 1 in 435 that gives a rat's ass.

    5. I have written my state's congressional deligation asking to know how they voted and how this effects me a collector. Do I now become a criminal due to a stroke of Bush's pen. I figure since they passed it, they should be able to explain it. It seems this is very similar to the land grab of eminate domain, in that the goverment just stomped on you personal rghts and made your property worthless.

      I'll post their replys.

Hell they should stamp on the back of any non issued piece includung the MOH "replica" or "copy" like they do for the VC and sell'm.

The MOH vets are behind this 100%, but no one wants to touch that scared cow.

    7. So let's assume that since you can't sell this collection any longer you decide to donate it to the local non profit or museum for their new collection on WWI. Can you donate it and take a tax deduction for its value? Or does this fall under that vast umbrella of thou shallt not, sell, barter, get any monitary gain, blah, blah, blah.

I guess you could sell the Riker mount for $10K and forget to remove the contents due to oversight.

    8. I'm working on a project concerning the American 42nd Rainbow division in the Meuse-Argonne during World War 1. Specificaly I'm looking for pictures of Landres et Saint Georges, Cote de Chatillion. Also does anyone know which German regimaents were on the other side of the line (Kriemhilde Stellung). I'm getting bits an pieces but nothing solid on the units.

Any info would be much appreciated.

      Thanks
