It's interesting to note how close these early birds were in design.
Juncker 1st pat, Deumer 1st pat, Assmann generic eagle.

Eric, well what can I say?.Nice doesn?t cover it.
I?ve been after one of these for some time to finish off the series, but sooo hard to locate! Congratulations!
I hope you don?t mind but I?ve tweaked your pix to show the true beauty of this rare piece.

I have never seen anything like them...
I think you have, Paul. Looking through the grime, they look like the same colour as the tabs you were enquiring about in this thread.

It still looks good to me, Staff. The fixing clamps certainly look period and are of the type used for a larger pole than found on an officer's vehicle. This reinforces my thinking that this particular pennant would have been used to identify a command station/HQ.

Good morning Staff.
Firstly, welcome to the club!
Well, that is an interesting piece! As you say, we are rather limited by the size of the picture but we can say that the colour configuration (brown/black with white eagle) is correct for a Commander of a Battalion-size signal unit.
The normal size of a car pennant is around 24 x 40cm. One possible reason for the size of this pennant is that it could have been used to identify a mobile HQ or command vehicle during manoeuvres.
As to originality? as with all cloth, there are certain tests that can be done. Black light, burn test on a loose thread, etc, but only you, having it in hand, have that advantage.
Going on the picture supplied, I would say that it has a good chance.

Gary,
Your 5th point regarding the level of the medals. As can be seen in this little compilation, and as Rick has said, "there are no hard and fast rules" when it comes to medal bars.

Hi Luftmensch,
It could be either...The difference between the two is that the auto club dirk has a brass horn device on the crossguard , the aero culb has a brass propeller on the crossguard.

Hi Doug,
Luftwaffe Flak-Scheinwerfer (searchlight unit) abteilung. 310 and Luftwaffe leichte (light flak unit) Flak abteilung 985 were part of the 25th Flak Div based in Italy 43-45.
I haven?t been able to find anything on his earlier ?Ersatz? (replacement) units but will keep looking.
