Here's one that landed on the doorstep recently..
An early wartime tombak piece. The short barrel hinge is of the type found on pre-war 1st pattern badges.
This example has the owner's name and number scratched on the reverse of the eagle.. ' W Hirte 97'

It looks even better in the case, Kurt.
As you say, and as discussed, a piece that some will like and some will not, but still (IMO) a rather rare variant 'IMME' bird combined with a 'Juncker' 2nd pattern wreath.

I know it's only a technicality, but I would love to know the exact date of the downing of the that ?Stuka?, in Poland, seeing that the attack was started on the 1st Sept @ 04.45 hrs and the start of WW2 began two days later after the declaration was made..
As to the downing of the ?Storch??.I bet the crew of the ?Cub? had massive smiles on their faces?..

Hi Rick,
De ole Gremlins at work...I'll see if I can find the thread and re-post.

Hi G,
Looks like the Focke-Wulf, FW-58 "Weihe" Multipurpose aircraft.
Initially used for light transport, then adapted for training of pilots, radio operators/air gunners, etc.

Sorry Wayne, but I have concerns about this badge.
As far as I know, the only maker marked examples were the 1st pattern type made in aluminium..
An original 1st pat' has no beard (this characteristic came into being on the 2nd pattern )..
Your maker mark, although close, is not, IMO, an original 'Juncker' mark..
Seeing that we have some members who collect these badges, perhaps they could lend a helping hand in comparing Wayne's badge to examples in their reference files.

Hi Wayne,
You're right to have doubts... It's not original. The fakers have used a 2nd pattern 'Juncker' wreath combined with a 2nd pattern 'Assmann' eagle. Hinge, catch and rivets are poorly done... Not one for your collection.
Below: An original 2nd pattern 'Assmann'... for comparison.

Hi Larry,
Any chance of posting some larger pix? Going on the pix we have, it appears to be a classic piece.
B&NL only produced Para badges with zinc wreaths, this confirmed by the reverse setup, recessed catch and small hinge. However, examples can be found with eagles in gilded tombak and yours may well be one of those.
