Sorry to say that I don't like any of them..

Don't know much about this ghetto badge, but the enamel looks new.

I agree with Paul on the SS Gebirgsjäger piece...a fantasy piece.

The Germanic Proficiency Runes badge is just wrong...incorrect hardware, originals were not riveted etc.

The double marked HJ National Trade Competition Victors Badge is also a fake, imo. As far as I'm aware, there was no 1944 Kreissieger Badge produced.

Again, I agree with Paul...The veterans badge is a cast copy.

Firstly, I think we can all agree that the pin has been replaced. If it had the original pin, I think it would have had a "1" stamped in to it for the maker Deschler & Sohn.

I see no 'red flags'....Correct ball hinge, as is the round-wire pin (these RS&S came with both round-wire & flat pins) and even though the catch is missing the catch placement outline is correct. An original IMO.

This clasp brings back some memories....

Many years ago I had one of these S&L clasps in my collection. I always had misgivings as to it being a war time or post-war piece due to overall construction and lack of catch plate. I sold mine as a post-war piece.

I've seen them come up over the years and they have always caused a difference of opinion...so I suppose it falls in to the category of ' either you like them, or you don't'

Anyway, please don't tell me that you have some solid evidence that they are in fact some sort of late war piece....you really don't want to see a grown man cry.

Enough of my rambling.... Let us see what others have to say.

A friend recently acquired two 1870 EK2's and sent me pictures of both.

I was able to identify one as a "muffin crown" fake. The second is a little harder and would appreciate a helping hand. I don't like it but you never know.

The one that interests me is the skull and crossed bones pin....Could it be a mini of the traditions badge of IR 17, or Panzer/SS unit?

Always a little difficult to assess these field made (or POW) pieces, but I have to say that this one is certainly one of the more believable ones Ive seen. I like it.

If proof is needed of these self-made badges....well, perhaps a little oversized!

So, the owner was based at Fliegergruppe Göppingen... either temporarily at the Fliegerschule or with one of the permanent units based at Göppingen.

A little research should turn up some info on the H.KP II designation.

Somehow I fail to get the lighting right to show its convexity.

It's always a little difficult with badges and digital cameras, but thought the photography showed off the piece very nicely. You have a 'good eye'.

The die characteristics and hardware all look to be 100% period Juncker, and even though the left rivet has been worked on, the badge is in superb condition.

I've not seen any images of the clasp. The clasp (without hanger) on his funeral pillow looks to be of the standard type, and all the photo's I've seen of him have been with the same one. I know the family allowed the modern-day Molders (now renamed) squadron the chance of displaying his awards for a while...no "Front Flyer clasp with Brilliants"

So, possibly still with the family...in a private collection or lost? Hopefully one day it will turn up.

But, how about a pic of his SC to make up for the lack of images of the clasp....

I guess so, the wife was moaning at me for playing my 'dated 80s electronic music, you should have grown out of that by now!' she said, so I repleid in that case I should have grown out of you too by that logic! Didn't go down well!

The curved blade shows it to be a cavalry sabre. Most likely the model Nr.40 by Eickhorn for both officers and enlisted/NCO's.

The maker mark looks to be the 1936 type.

The shooting urkunde would certainly have been one of a very limited number as these types of documents were unit specific, having been designed and produced only for a unit event.
