    1. He's been exposed then!!! He talks like he's researched the issue. Mike
    2. What do you think about this listing, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...A%3AIT&rd=1 And this thread, http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/sho...ad.php?t=169230 The last poster either knows something we don't or is a shill? mike
    3. Did Austria produce a M18 cut out stye helmet post WWI in the early 20's? Mike
    4. Outstanding helmet made even more outstanding that a family member wore it during the war. I had an M26 with the same frontal badge on it for years but sold it when I learned it was post WWI. Mike
    5. Thanks Dan that is some great info. I am only interested in a early or later blue colored infantry helmet. Are French helmets repainted by con artists to any degree? Mike
    6. Being a collector of German lids I know you have to watch out for fakes but have no idea about French WWI helmets. Are any faked? What are the pitfalls of collecting French lids if any? Also can anyone direct me to any web sites that deal with French WWI helmets other then no man's land militara? Already know about that one. Mike
    7. OK cool thanks Chip. I had no idea about the canteen. I like the other style a whole lot better. mike
    8. Chip, Are you saying the canteen is not German then? As for the cover it had a button on it. I removed it for use on my repro cover. Come to think, on looking at the cover close I am sure it's a repro cause of the snaps, they are too new looking but I got a feeling the button is a period button. Mike
    9. Here is the canteen I got from great war militaria that I tried to clean out the inside for use but gave up. It's only good for display. Does anyone know what type it is? And what would it be worth? Since it's now surplus I will sell it soon. Canteen is original, beat up with dents but holds water. Cork and broken strap are original. Cover I don't know.
    10. I just got the canteen and the only marking I can see is covered by rust so that the only letter I see is the letter N. w/ period. Here is a photo of it below dressed in reproduction cover, strap and cork assembly. The metal parts in the strap are originals The canteen is in very fine condition as for the inside. Only two spots of rust. No dents and no leeks. I'd be fine drinking out of it. This one will be used for re enacting. Mike
    11. hey Guys! I was looking at the straps on my gas mask. I don't have any others to compare to but it looks like an incomplete repair was done. When i put it on tonight the strap in the front does not go back all the way to connect with the other straps. Take a look and what can anyone report? Mike
    12. Thanks. The current canteen I have now has no markings and the spout is a little different. I think maybe an earlier design. Mike
    13. Hi, I just won a canteen on ebay. To the best of my research and photo comparison I believe I won a WWI conteen. Wnated to ask your opinion on it. Can you take a look? Here is the link, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...N%3AIT&rd=1 I tried to get the seller to send me additional photos but he never did. This canteen seems to look just like the green enamel one on the right side in your first post. Mike
    14. If I could find an un messed with shell in good enough original condition I'd buy it. A ebay seller had a brown repainted one and she wanted 900 or over. She was over valuing it and I did not want to play the sucker. Mike
    15. The Cut outs appear to be un even as you say but the photo was taken uneven to begin with so I did not question that right away. with 19 hours left to go the fact that the helmet is not fething over 200 by now says the collectors in the know agree with you. Somehow the faker managed to do the cut out and not mar the metal to the point he needed to re paint it. I'd love an original M18 cut out if only I could afford one. This is the onlt reason I am seeking one to restore. mike
    16. I am posting this auction for your input on the helmet. Faked or real? It looks good to me, only it's too pitted for my tastes so i am not going to bid on it. The ET64 looked like he cleaned it up to show up better but I don't know if the font is bad. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 I am looking for a suitable original to restore, either heavy rust or already repainted. Mike
    17. I just picked up a mask from Great War Militaria. Original mask with original can but can was repainted for use in reenacting.
    18. I just picked up a mask from Great War Militaria. Original mask with original can but can was repainted for use in reenacting. Added: I tried to edit one of the other post to add a photo so I'd have two up but it seems to count both posts as one so far as posting photos go. Sorry for the double post and one photo. Mike
    19. Hey Guys, I am re building a WWI german canteen. Does anyone happen to know where to get a reproduction leather strap set up? Mike
    20. Is this medallion what the seller says it is? If yes was it a post war thing or did soldat's wear them during the war too? Mike http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1
    21. I don't even know if they are military but they look vintage. Anyone have any idea? I am seeking an ID for a friend. Mike
    22. Looks like the blue on Russian capture then but one area on the reciever looks to be a thin area on the re finish with some rust blue color coming through. Mike
    23. Yes a great post. I've read abput trench raids before but this one is by far the best one I've read about, giving a vidid picture of what went on during the raids and how they worked. Mike
    24. I see. That top hook at the collar is hard to get fastoned and is pretty tight! Mike
