I thought that would be an MVO 2nd class - early style - with the orginal mvk being the same except non enamel arms???? I have an mvo 4th with flames - war issue - and was always under the impression that the mvk had only center enameling (and the early first grade was silver - gilt added when they made 3 levels) my bad on my earlier - knew the progression of 1 then 2 then 3 just messed up on the years

Where did you get your info on war time period etc? I have a small collection of mvk's and mvo's and getting any info other than through things like this is almost impossible! Anyone out there know possible issued quantity numbers for the 3 classes and the w w/o swords and crowns variations? Also would love to see pics of early - pre-1905 versions when there was only 2 classes!

Well that is the spitting image of mine! So how is yours marked on the sword?

Well from a detail standpoint mine looks the same - the only difference is the enamel in the center is higher - as they added more of the black than in the one pictured above - so mine is closer to flat but not flat I guess the good thing on the markings is they are not obvious - have to work to see the W and the C - sword is very very tight Overall this is a nice feeling and looking medal

well i was able to move the sword enough - very tight - to see a W then a C and then the clearly visible o so i guess that would confirm

Well here is a better picture of the enamel - hope it is better - need a new camera! I will say the l does look like gold by the patina What kind of marks did weiss put on there crosses? On the 2nd class enamel on both and yes kind of rough - but you think both are ok period pieces?

Also here is a 2nd class that has enamel on both sides! Any ideas on that?

Since everyone is posting their MVK's - here is a pic of my 1st class Has a mark on the sword - letter o and something I cannot make out Any suggestion on real/fake and maker?

just the center's are enameled i have a gold class 1 and several class three's but none have both sides enameled (obviously no enamel on the three's) I have a 4th class mv order and this looks like it more with the exception of the enamel and flames around the center. I am just wondering if this medal could be an original mvk - before they split into 2 then three classes. Also the swords are loose and I think could have been added after

I have a really nice MVK2 which looks great but one strange thing: both sides are enamel - not just the front! anybody know this variation? cold it be pre gold class 1?
