Who the hell is that?!?!?!?! (Is my suspicion right? Choibalsan [young]?)

Confirmation (un-retouched!) of the Arabic-numbered awards.

You have made my MONTH (not day, not week)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      :jumping::jumping::jumping::jumping:

Glad that I could make your Month Ed!!!!

I too was very very happy when I finally got the thing... It took more than a bit of effort to get it and if you may remember, this picture was on ebay a while back. I tracked down the original purchaser who had the auction ended early and got it from him... And a nice profit for him too.....Worth it though!

Choibalsan as we haven't seen him before.....

    2. So noted. Yummy.

      Pending research. Wow. RESEARCH!??!?!?!

      :speechless1::speechless1::jumping::jumping::jumping:

I can only imagine who the lucky man was that got this one.....

On that note... any word on research???

I sent this picture to Dr.B a little while back and he was also rather interested... I think you'll see why.

      1926-1931 Order of Military Valour 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th awards!!!!!!!

    3. Hello chaps,

I've been comparing the box below with the one in Paul's thread about rising sun orders. The one I'm showing is supposed to be a 8th class box. However I notice a few variations in the Kanji.

Is there a way for you gents to tell me what order this box goes with?

      Thanks,

      Nicolas

Sorry for the bad picture but this should do....

You've got to look at the second character from the top.... So in this case you've got an 8th class..

      Hope this helps.

    4. Duda :cheeky: :cheeky: :cheeky: :cheeky: :cheeky: :cheeky: As she made it through school with that name /something like "Fat"/, after that surviving the illegal partisan years must have been a candy :cheeky: :cheeky:

Izrailova - maybe of jewish descent.

      Interesting badge!!!

Small world, I have a Polish friend whose maiden name was Duda....

      She'll get a laugh...

      Cheers

    5. OK, it gets even more confusing.

A very modern-feeling, lightweight, unnumbered item. The center and suspension are not blue but rather a blue-green color (much more "green" than "blue" though it may nopt scan that way).

      :banger:

Ed, I've been trying to get a better picture of these too.

      Here are four unnumbered medals.

The suspensions are all very different and there are more subtle differences on the medals.

Sorry about the bad scan but it's the best I can do right now...

    6. And, if we could read it, we might learn something from the legend on the reverse?

The only thing I could make out was the date....

It's really bad handwriting which makes a difficult job almost impossible....

We all know the weird dating they used but this says 1943-10-19, and I think that's the actual date.

1953 would be too late for Uighur....

    7. I sold the fellow some pieces too and he out bid me on a type 1 herder0 Doc a while back so he really should have a better grasp on the awarding dates.

I thought that since I'd dealt with him before he would be more willing to arrange a few copies for us here, but he seems to be a stubborn fellow and he only wanted to sell through ebay... Go figure....

Anyway, I too worry.... The list of items that'll I'll never have is getting longer and longer......

Thanks Ed for the review and let's hope that things don't get as bad as we all fear they will.
