    1. Ah the artistic types. Conformity goes against the very idea of being creative, so Perhaps on days he was feeling particularly creative he wore them upside down.

Great picture and thanks for posting. Now there's a set of rarities I wouldn't mind having.

      Merry Christmas all.

    2. Thanks for posting those pictures. I must say that I find around $1000 a bargain for these considering the rarity and usual quality, even with the wrong case. Maybe my judgement has been clouded by my years of collecting Mongolian items, where occasionally one would pay for rarity over quality. I guess next time I'll know what to expect with these. Thanks again for the info.

    3. Lol... I assure you I have no secret knowledge about fakes.. My questioning the authenticity of these actually came about because if your bush beating!!!! Lol this post is quickly becoming questionable.

Thanks for clarifying that all of these gems are real.. Right?

I should pick one up really.

      Cheers

    4. Congratulations Bob,

I haven't seen one of those for sale in many years...I had a chance at one of these 3-4 years ago and to this day I regret not getting it. Damn Soyombo won that fight.

Glad we started collecting when we did as it must be nearly impossible to get some of the stuff we got back in those days.

      Cheers

    5. Peterse,

Badge #1001 B03 front and B04-R reverse - The reverse (b 04-R) of the badge depicted belongs to B. 02.

Badge #0784 B04 front and B02-R reverse - You are right. I think that is the case.

I am holding the badge in my hand as Im typing this. B03 front belongs to B04R.

    6. It turns out I also have the B02 from Dr. Battushig's book and the front and back do NOT match...

This is getting fun. The reverse of badge Serial #0784 as seen in picture B02-R matches the front seen in picture B04.

      So to sum up.

      Badge #1001 B03 front and B04-R reverse

      Badge #0784 B04 front and B02-R reverse

And last but not least, my B02 obverse is in fact a pinback and not a screw back although this badge isn't from Dr. B's book.

    7. Tsend thanks for the new information.

I would just like to point out one thing though... I have the badge (pinback serial #1001)from DR.Battushig's book sitting infront of me now and B04-R belongs to B03 and not B02. I will post pictures when I can.

      Thanks

    8. I'm on vacation in Mexico and my parents have an 85 year old friend, Hans, who has been fighting a very tough battle with cancer, and before the war is over he is interested in finding out more about his uncle who fought in Verdun.

His uncles name is Heine (Heinrich) Van Marwijk, sometimes written as Van Marweijk.

This is a Dutch name, but Heine was born near Dortmund in the province of Westphalia which at the time was part of Prussia.

There isn't much to go on other than that he turned 18 sometime during the war, was at Verdun, and that he managed to live through the war.

I'm not sure what, if anything, can be found out about this man but any help or advice you guys might be able to give me would greatly appreciated.

      Thanks in advance!!

      JC

PS. Could a moderator please fix my spelling mistakes in the topic title. What was I thinking....
