    1. Tony,

Those are keepers. It's rare to know where these EKII's come from, and the story behind them is great.

The brown paper is tissue paper. The new cross was wrapped in this tissue before being placed in the envelope. It protected the finish on the cross as they would slide around in the envelope.

I try to collect crosses and packets that are original to one another. I have been fortunate in that so far I have also gotten the original tissue with each one.

However, if a cross and packet came along that were matched and maker marked, I wouldn't turn it down. smile.gif

    2. Just out of curiousity, what is a "fair" price for one of these now.

Or, is there even an average due to their scarcity?? I know where I can buy three. Two in Europe, and the Euro is killer right now, and one in the US, but he seems to be asking just as much.

    3. Tony,

This is where they need one on those screaming smileys as far as the paint. :violent-smiley-017:

Still, a very nice cross. I'll check around and see if I can come up with a maker.

      Gordon,

Super nice to have attributed pieces. I also have an L/19 EKI. It still has all it's paint with the exception of just a few chips on the date. Non magnetic, and what I can see, looks to be brass, or at least coppered.

      Dave,

If I wasn't broke at the moment, I would have snatched that brass EKI you have. sad.gif
