Hallo Scott, one thing I have to mention with regards the uniforms displayed in the Romanian Military Museum is, that while there are 100% genuine articles on display, there are also modern reproductions of vintage items, original military uniforms down through the years were often stripped of their military insignia and used as common everyday work items, especially that of non-coms and private rank, very few pieces have survived the ravages of time and moths to the present day. There were also a large amount of copies produced for the Communist period movie industry so care has to be taken when trying to identify pieces, when rarely offered for sale at the Collector's Fairs. So far I have not brought any because no stamping or labels can be found on any items I have been offered. Looking closely at this particular uniform, the belt buckle could be the standard one issued today, and the ammo pouches although very similar to the WW2 Royalist pattern were copied and issued to the post WW2 communist military well into the 1950's. (the originals and post war can be found in black leather and brown leather, with steel fixings and with brass fixings, WW2 pieces can be found with a Maker stamp, but not on all pieces. Romanian Patriotic Guard Uniform's. The belt displayed is not correct for the uniform, this is a current issue Romanian Military belt, the correct belt would be dark brown, with a brass buckle with a Romanian Communist period emblem. Patriotic Guard Beret, with emblem. Kevin in Deva. -
