What a fascinating and thoroughly interesting thread you have put together!
Like many others who have commented, I too would like to see a published work by yourself on 20-July Bomb Plot as it is clear to see that you have extensive knowledge on this highly emotive topic.
Without wanting to hi-jack your thread, I would be interested to read of some of your opinions on Fromm and his involvement/knowledge of the conspirators intent. For example, it is known for certainty that Fromm was totally aware of Stauffenberg's intentions? and from this is it known if he either helped or hindered their plans accordingly?
I would be very interested to read of your thoughts on Fromm.
Regards Richard.

No information on him but I have seen his signature on prelim RK citations before.
Thanks Kevin, Oberst Josef Stigell it is then!
To be honest I am very suprised that his signature was identifiable, and thought he would just be another of the myriad of Luftwaffe officers employed with the Oberkommander der Luftwaffe.
Hopefully, I might be able to find out the odd snippet of info on Stigell in the future.
Regards Richard.

Hello Richard.
Ref.# 73,
signature of Oberst Stigell.
Bernhard H. Holst
Bernhard thank you very much indeed for your help!
Do you have any additional information on Stigell at all?
I checked Doug Stankey and Larry de Zang's Luftwaffe Officer Career Summaries and only found the following:
STIGELL, Josef. 01.06.41 promo to Oberst.
Regards Richard.

The subsequent award of the EKI followed for his actions during Unternehmen Merkur, signed by General der Flieger Kurt Student.
Bernhard Kutscha would end the war as a Leutnant having served in the following units:
2./Fallschirm. Fla. MG-Btl
Artillerie Regiment 17(L)
Fallschirm. Panzerjager Abteilung 2
Fallschirm. Sturmgeschutz Brigade 21

Trying to solve the puzzle I found:
Fliegerführer Nord till December 1941 Oberst Holle; Fliegerfüher Nord divided into Fliegerführer Nord (Ost) and Fliegerführer Nord (West); new names since March 1944, Fliegerführer Nordmeer and Fliegerführer Eismeer.
Fliegerführer Nord (Ost) since December 1941 till June 1943 Oberst/Generalmajor Holle. For a short time in July/August 1943 Generalmajor Roth. From August 1943 to March 1944 Oberst Kühl.
Fliegerführer Nord (West) since December 1941 till March 1944 Oberstleutnant/Oberst Busch.
But I do not know if this is really correct.

Thank you very much indeed for taking the time to explain the breakdown for the Fliegerfuhrer Nord, as a result I am more than happy on the identity of Busch as the signatory as a result.

Hi Richard,
Oberstleutnant/Oberst Hermann Busch.
Uwe
Uwe
Thank you for taking the time to reply to my question however:
WW2.dk states that the position of Fliegerfuhrer Nord (West) was filled by 2 men:
Oberst Alexander Holle 12.41 - 1.3.43
Oberst Hermann Busch 1.3.43 - ?
With all 3 Flontflug-Spange documents signed by the same man and covering the period listed above for both men, can you say for sure that the signatory is indeed Hermann Busch?
All help is well received.
Regards Richard.

As the new owner of this set of documents, I was pointed to this thread by a fellow document collector.
I have a question relating to the 3 Frontflug-Spange citations which all bear the same signature, can anyone identify the signatory on these citations?
Any help at all will be very well received.
Regards Richard.

Any ideas on this signature on the opening page of a Wehrpass, and signed by a Hauptmann und Kompanie Chef 6./Inf. Regt. 16, dated 30-September-1936?
Regards Richard.
