Hello haratio
My Mom and Dad christened my Laurence -spelt with a "u" instead of a "w" as Mom was Belgian and the French version is Laurent. My friends call me larry. You can call me anything you want'cept late for dinner
Cats will let you know when you are not paying enough attention to them ha ha.
Those would make superb RC ships
I don't know enough about the navy to really comment on the ships. I do think, that for all the steel, Reich Marks etc that went into the German captial ships, they did not seem to get much in the way of return. Might have been better off using the resouces for U-Boats and panzers......

Interesting how both sides claimed God was on their side. I think God may have taken a holiday between 1914 and 1918 and told all warring parties "you made this mess so you fix it". The first world war was the war that should never should have happend with all nations equally to blame.
Makes you wonder doesn't it!

Hello Haratio
Thanks for the update I was scared we had lost you for a bit there.
My condolances on the family deaths, I hope all is well now.
Sometimes the mojo just up and disappears, I have had that issue with my modeling as well of late. And in your scale I can understand the $ issue.
Keep us posted as things progress please.
Sincerely
Larry

Never seen one of those before. That would make a neat model conversion. Were there many of them and what time frame were they in service?
Thanks

You might want to ask the question here:
Though I am not sure how they will recieve the question.
Goodluck in your search

Hi Larry, what intrigues me the most, is who removed the eagle?, A disgruntled owner, a Soviet soldier or the photographer?. It is difficult to determine but it may have been of gruppenfuhrer rank, if so it may narrow down who actually owned it those last few days, but I'm speculating
regards
Alex
Someone else who met a sticky end in those last days, the precise nature of his demise is uncertain, only one living person of the fuhrerbunker entourage in the last days, claims to know what happened and who did the deed, he has stated that it will go with him to the grave, Rochus Misch, radio operator. He is incidentally depicted in the film "Die Untergang"
Hermann Fegelein
Hello Alex
Which incident are you talking about? Fegeleins?
Ditto! Matter of fact, thinking of organising a commando raid to wreck your satellite dish so you stay glued to your computer!
Count me in. Would enjoy a trip to Europe. You have enough influence to line up a CC 117?

Hello Chris
Good idea, I will look into it when I get the complete document. It is coming to me in instalments.

Finally the chokehold that has been held by a select few is coming to an end. I have been succesful in aquiring a PDF copy of the 1939 Rangelist der Wehrmachtbeamte Heer. Once I get the complete document I will be looking at transfering it to a disk and am more than willing to give copies to those who wish it.

I don't profess to know near as much as either Mervyn or Peter when it comes to items like this. However apparantly those could be hall mark's even though it is silverplate....

These are but 3 sites that are available if you google "Silverplate hallmarks"

I am reasonably sure it is a souvenier spoon. My wife has a large collection of these, all the different cities and areas etc, that we have been to.
I am not sure what the significance of the chain is.

Hmmm I see I will be paying more attention to old lamps at sales from now on, instead of just walking by them.
