    Hello Rick,

I have his belt from the Civil War and have been trying to find some info about him. I haven't had any luck and was wondering if you might have the resources to help.

John Spear of the 14th Maine Volunteer Infantry

    thanks,

Unfortunately there were MANY "John Spear"s in Maine-- and the only one I can find is shown as a GAR grave in West Gardiner Cemetery, Kennebec County, "1826-1911" with wife Rebecca Ann "1829-1900."

No Maine Civil War sources available to me to tell any of them apart.

There is also a 14th Maine Volunteer Infantry website-but John Spear is not listed thereupon. Try forum #1-they seem to really know their stuff.
