Michael Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 Hi all. I found this in the bottom of a box of stuff I bought at an auction. I don't know if it will come out or not. I tried to get as close a picture as I could. The RZM mark actually says REM. My first thoughts were that it's a copy. Anybody have any idea if this is a good one?
Michael Posted October 7, 2006 Author Posted October 7, 2006 Sorry about the small pictures but with the size limits that's as good as it gets. I hope that someone will be able to give me some info.Michael
Michael Posted October 7, 2006 Author Posted October 7, 2006 I can send somebody bigger and better pics to their e-mail address if need be.Michael
Robin Lumsden Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 (edited) To me, that photo says 'RZM', not 'REM'.That said, it's not one I'd be happy with. Edited October 7, 2006 by Robin Lumsden
Michael Posted October 7, 2006 Author Posted October 7, 2006 Thanks Robin. I've looked at it several times with a magnifying glass and there's definitely an E where the Z should be. It's got to be a copy.Michael
Scowen Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Here are larger images of Michael's badge.CheersDon
Scowen Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Detail of mark.I don't think it's an "E" Michael, just a poorly formed Z with a crossbar.
Michael Posted October 8, 2006 Author Posted October 8, 2006 Thanks Don. Now that I've looked at it about 50 times it doesn't really look like a good E either. Maybe you're correct. Everything else about the badge says good as far as I can tell.Michael
DanCz Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 In my opinion that is not a genuine period made (by Deschler of Munich) badge.
Robin Lumsden Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 (edited) I agree. It's the same as the diamond badges that appeared in the grips of reproduction HJ knives about 30 years ago. Edited October 24, 2006 by Robin Lumsden
