sambolini Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Hi,Is the badge oin this photo for marksmanship?Looks like two crossed rifles, wreath, surmounted with a crown. Thanks,Sam
Chip Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 (edited) sambolini,Yes, it is the Saxon K?nigsabzeichen, given out each year to the best shooting company. The device had the year in which it was won on it. If you could see the year, you could determine which regiment this man was from. Given the location of the photographer, it was most likely the 106.IR or 107.IR. A close-up of the buckle could further narrow it down.ChipPS Just last week I got in a picture of an Saxon NCO from the 107.IR wearing a K?nigsabzeichen from the year 1904. sambolini Posted March 30, 2007 Author Posted March 30, 2007 Hi chip,Thanks very much for the info. The date is impossible to read, however there is a staue in the background with a device that has the number "107".Regards,Sam
Chip Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Quite a coincidence, as my photo is a man from the same regiment. I would have to find my list of the winners of this insignia, but I think that it is quite possible that these two soldiers were in the same company in 1904!Chip
